First of all, I am using a Laney Lionheart L20H, Strat, SG, Gretsch Semi and a cheap Harley Benton 2x12" V30s box. I bought the Palmer as an addition to the V30 box, as well as handy box for tiny gigs or rehearsals.
The box itself is quite big, the 12 inch speaker gets much more room as it gets in a 2x12" or even 4x12". Therefore it sounds not "boxy", but "full". Its open-back construction supports warm clean sounds and the dispersion of the guitar sound in the room. It can be used alone or together with others, as it owns the very useful feature to be able to have another box switched parallely. (watch the picture of the back, you can see two In/outs. You could even buy 2 or 4 of these tiny ones, to be flexible enough. Also mixing the speakers is possible as every speaker has its own enclosure!)
You can also see "engineered by eminence", which means: Palmer (a great german high-quality company, previously just selling accessories) worked together with Eminence, getting their knowledge and completed offering a hilariously cheap but worthy box. Though it's produced in China, there can be no argument about the tolex and the front covering - well done.
I like the sound together with V30s, as the Greenback is very warm and smooth, but the V30s are working more aggressively. The quite low efficiency of the speaker allows playing it at home too. --> It's quite an allrounder, which every guitar playe should have in its equipment pool.
I purchased the Palmer 1x12 Cabinet with the Celestion Greenback speaker to use it with my Bugera G5 head. I want to use my new "mini stack" mostly at home for practice. That´s why I chose the Greenback Speaker, it has a sensitivity of 98 dB and that´s why it can sound good at low volumes and not only when you drive your amp hard or raise the master volume too high. The V30 Speaker, for instance, is said not to sound as good at low volume as the Greenback does. The Cabinet is well built and has greater dimensions than your usual 1x12 cabinet. That´s why it sounds a bit bigger than your usual 1x12. Don´t get me wrong it CAN sound good at low volume, but if you need to use it in a band, it can be loud too, but not as loud as most emminence speakers for example. The grill cloth looks stable and the cabinet is well build. I´m very satisfied with it so far. It can go from crystal clean tones to great hard rock punch(think of AC/DC or 80s Rock) or even into the Metal category, depending on the amp use use with it, of course. It is cheaper than most other cabinets from other brands and has a authentic Celestion speaker built in. Good value for the money.
