So I've had this mic for about 6 months and it might seem an odd choice, but I specifically bought this as a vocal mic - a female vocal mic.
Why? Well most vocal mics have a presence peak centered in the upper mids, which on female vocals can add a needed edge or can cut your head off. This mic actually does a cut around 7K or so, which is very useful on a lot of different voices. I'm not a fan of terribly bright mics, and the top boost on this is subtle enough not to sway me.
The next great feature, it has selectable patterns. Meaning we can stick it on Omni and throw it back a few feet and we have a great room mic sound. I've used this on 2 of the last EP's I engineered and it was my go-to reverb and it sounded great (and the singer loved it in their headphone feed, made doing takes way faster). It also sounds great as a drum room mic. Omni LDC's are a beef sound, less accurate than their SDC brothers but maybe a little more..pleasing?
The downsides? Well the switches feel flimsy and wont handle much abuse, and the shockmount is separate. It comes with a clip but the thing is pretty poor. It looks like you're hanging the mic off the tab from a soda can! Just consider it part of the cost, and it's still great value for money.
