Okay so I'm a long time user of Martin strings. In fact I'm fairly sure martins are all I've ever used. The medium gauge ones to be precise. Anyway, I decided to give martins light string gauge a go, mostly because my singing voice isn't as strong as I would like it to be, and I also tend to play very lightly these days. I also wanted to included bending in more of my songs, figuring lighter strings would be easier to bend on an acoustic. So when they arrived I strung the guitar up, but within a few minutes I was already disappointed. Okay, yes they were slightly easier to play, and I noticed a small drop in volume compared to the mediums, but the sound quality was poor. They produced a very metallic sound, and had very little clarity - the overall sound when strumming was a bit muddy. Even now, nearly two weeks later and after they've been worn and stretched and used, they're only okay at best. Still a slightly metallic sound, only a small bit quieter than the mediums, and bending isn't particularly easier either. The only reason I can see to buy these strings is if you are a beginner starting off on a steel string, and are finding it difficult to fret chords without calluses. Then again, I myself started off with medium gauge and got on just fine.
