Looks great, feels good, controls are a gimmick, but OK. Sound is plenty powerful, but bass'y.
The DLM8 box is square, the speaker is central, which means, internal standing sound waves, which means "bass". The EQ controll's don't seem to do much because of this, but almost OK.
The "high's" horn is also drowned out by the speaker it sits in the middle of and can only be heard when very central to the speaker, making the DLM8 even more bass'y, but acceptable.
However, when on stage & well wound up above 1/2, this really does a great job, bassyness disappears, voice and acoustic guitar carry far, loud & clear, fully astounding for an 8 inch speaker.
The onboard digital mixer is almost acceptable, but awkward for on stage adjustment. Channel "one" has plenty of gain for mic with the "mic" button pressed, but channel 2 (line only) has very low gain & needs a DI (& more) for guitar to be heard at all. I finally decided to use a small mixing desk and forget the DLM 8 digital onboard stuff, which leaves me in my old sound setup of "active speaker/mixing desk", I previously used a Yamaha DXR 8 & mixer, which is superb.
Glad that Thomann have a "30 day return if not satisfied", this has helped me get a very good sound setup, not having to suffer something that does not work for me.
So light and portable. Endlessly expandable, with each unit self powered. Combines with subs to handle deep bass and thud but surprisingly full sound on its own. A pair of these would handle bar gigs with ease and as venue sizes increase, just add a couple more.
