Kustom PA 4 EX, 4-channel mixer for PW Trower / Amp Series, 4x XLR input, 4x 6.3mm jack input, XLR sync input / output, 1x XLR or 6.3mm jack Main output, 2 band EQ per channel, Phantom Power, incl. power supply
I have never been disappointed with Kustom sound gear, in fact, the opposite, plus the slightly lower cost makes me feel even better.
Since I started solo work a year ago, I am using just one powered speaker, usually a big JBL (my favourite) with the cleanest & best balanced sound I ever heard, this one speaker system is "mono sound" which fits the kustom 4 channel "mono" mixer well.
Most little mixers are stereo, OK, use just one side, but I wonder if this is not the correct thing to do. Many different trains of thought on this topic.
I never use FX at all, so this mixer's clean & straight sound is good for me.
This mixer has very good headroom before any sound problems arise, the Kustom compares well with more expensive mixers I have owned or borrowed. The Kustom mixer it also has plenty of clean gain (jack out has more gain than XLR out), There is more than enough treble and bass "shift" available too. My EQ's very rarely move more than 1/4th turn + or - from standard settings.
The "link XLR's" are a bit suspect on Kustom sound gear, so I avoided using them so far.
I took my Kustom mixer straight from the delivery mans hands to "its first" live gig in town, which turned out sounding great, a good sound is easy to perform with.
4 months later, update~This little mixer has "a certain mono vintage vibe" to its sound, voice (mic plugged into XLR), electric guitar (plugged straight into "line"), takes me back to the seventies/eighties, OK, I'm 65 years old now, but this has brought new vigor to my Solo sound.
For a really cheap mixer this ticks all the boxes. True 4 channel mixer with 4 XLR inputs (and 4 jack inputs) and either XLR or jack output. Obviously at this price there's no built in effects but Hi and Low tone controls and gain on each channel gets the job done. There was no noticeable drop-off in sound quality when the unit was added between the mic and amplifier, although my bass did sound slightly muffled - not had a chance to see if I can dial out the bass problem, but even so it was still usable. If you need a cheap option to get 4 XLRs into one then look no further.
