Disappointed at the quality of this keyboard.

I'm very disappointed at the quality of this keyboard. When it first arrived, it had broken at the point where the actual keyboard connects to the module with the buttons and whatnot on it. Now I get the idea behind this, obviously Icon are so desperate to manufacture their keyboards as cheaply as possible that they just make a set of modules and a set of keyboards of different types and just screw them together. Great in theory, but in practice the screws mounting the two together are just far too weak and you end up with a fail point. I got another one from Thomann (honestly, I would have preferred a refund but there you go), only to find that I can't even get the buttons to work with my DAW. Well at least the basic functions such as the pitch wheel and octave switch buttons work. Also it does take up a lot less space on my desk. But overall, I wished I'd ordered something else like an M-Audio.

The thing I wanted most in a controller keyboard was a good action, and I tried all of them- every one I could get my hands on- before buying this one. Also I needed 5-pin MIDI, which this has. For the money, the features are fantastic, though I'd have bought it for just the good action and MIDI. I don't think this is the last Icon keyboard I'll buy as they really seem to have thought about what people actually want and delivered it. Decide what features you want and what size, and they probably make what you want. Basically, I can't see any reason to buy a controller from anyone else!

good feeling keyboard for the price

easy to set up, plug and play, realised I don't need the transport buttons, etc, but handy nevertheless. Nice feeling keyboard that, not too floppy and not too hard said Goldie locks
