When I ordered this bass I wasn't really sure what it would be like - just a pretty toy or a real jobbing instrument.
I needed to replace my usual acoustic jumbo bass which is difficult to use in a live situation where amplification caused feedback issues and it just didn't quite cut it. So I looked around for another acoustic instrument and this beauty caught my eye.
So I bought this without knowing anything other than it's pretty and really had no expectations - risky!
Anyway - it arrived and I unpacked it, removed the foam protection from under the floating wooden bridge and reset the intonation (a bit tricky - use a good tuner!). I played it and all appeared good - easy to play, quiet unplugged but pickups work well with a good choice of tone from the 3 way selector and tone controls. It has a good woody tone that nicely reflects an acoustic instrument rather than an "acoustic looking" electric bass. I guess this is down to it being a real hollow bodied guitar.
The big test was to play live....
Amazing! Absolutely blown away at the sound quality, how easy it was to EQ and the power and response you can feel & hear through the whole thing when played live.
As a bass player I'm not used to much audience feedback - but in this case I had amazing comments from people, both about the sound and the look of the instrument.
I took a risk because it's new and I could find no reviews etc, so my opinion is I would recommend this to anyone needing an acoustic bass to play live & amplified.
