Great LP experience for low price!

So, here it's the story:
I bought this SC-450BK as a base for the upgrades (as there is no 450 Plus' or 500' in black gloss color and cream hardware). I was sure that I will replace pickups, nut and tuners, but oh boy, I wasn't prepared for what arrived at my door. This guitar is FANTASTIC!

So the pickups sound very muddy, right? Right. I mean, what could you expect from a cheapest HB pickups in a guitar which costs as much as 1,5 of Seymour Duncan pickup. BUT! This mudiness only applies on clean and crunch tones. This guitar sounds PHENOMENAL on high gain. Both for rhythmics and leads parts! And I am talking about cheap 5150 simulation from my cheap NUX multi-effect and not high-end tube amp.

If it goes for the looks, this guitar is beautiful and sexy! There is only one thing though. Color on the pickguard and pickups frames is different than on binding (and uglier in my opinion). But this is very small thing when compared to the whole package.

Here are some measurements from the guitar in the out-of-the-box condition:
- String action: 2mm on both e1 and e6 strings above 12th fret
- Pickups resistance:
Bridge: 9,66
Both: 4,93
Neck: 10,09

Pros:
- EVERYTHING...

Cons:
- ... except of muddy pickups (expected) and not-that-great cream color on hardware

A classic worthy of respect

I waited for my HB SC-450 BK with some trepidation that I would have to, as is often the case, 'polish' the various flaws of budget guitars: polish the fretboard, struggle to adjust the rosewood and so on. So I was genuinely surprised that the instrument arrived to me in such perfect condition. I was impressed by the superb body shell and surface finish, the pristine condition of the humbuckers, neatly foil-covered, the condition of the hardware, the perfection of all the joints, the well-polished fingerboards and the fretboard height, which needs no intervention. All in all, the condition of the guitar was perfect. I viewed the consignment almost under a microscope and found no reason to be upset. But.

I will not hide, there was one shortcoming. As it turned out, the knob of the three-position switch was dangling in the body, apparently broken by a careless blow from above. After recording the video, I emailed a Thomann representative from the international customer service department with it. I was immediately offered a refund or, alternatively, to send a new switch to replace the broken one. After a brief consideration, I chose the second option - the excellent condition of the instrument was no small matter. I simply felt sorry to send such a beauty back.

I received the shipment with the new part a few days later, as well as a discount from Thomann, which was certainly nice. With my hands in the right place, I replaced the switch without any problems and have since enjoyed playing a member of the classic series, its sound and goodness.

The guitar arrived yesterday. The first thing that caught my eye was the uneven frets, they will have to be sanded. Because of this, there is an unpleasant clanging of the upper strings at the upper frets. The neck is even, but there are defects on the fingerboard itself (several cracks and a chip around the insert at the 12th fret), it does not affect playability yet. In general, a working tool will be for a beginner or for a home game, but before that it needs to be taken to the master for tuning.
