Gibson SG Special Pelham Blue

I have been waiting a lot for this guitar since it introduction in 2019. Never had a P90 guitar and Gibson does not make such a beautiful color so I decide to go for it and here are my thoughts.
Overall look:
This guitar is a classic sg shape with the big gibson head with gold logo blank rod cover. The neck has a nice binding and it is creamy color so it compliments the aesthetics very well. The fretboard is rosewood and this has a very nice wood grain where you can see the wood pattern and looks very classy. The body is a slim mahogany one and very comfortable while playing sitting or with a strap. Two P90s a wraparound bridge and two volumes two tones and 3 way selector. Pin straps are bigger than the usual so you can be ok having the guitar on your strap without fearing it will fall down. One more thing the tuners are kluson deluxe with small white pegs and fits the head very well and also works very well.
The sound: Having P90s equipped I was surprised by its sound very responsive and very hi-fi kind of sound through my marshall dsl. I had to digest this fact as these are different than my used to humbuckers. The neck pickup sounds from jazzy to roaring rock and you can dial any sound you want from soft rhythm playing to heavy blues rock leads-my wife told me this is the pickup she preferred while testing the guitar loudly...lol. Well the both p90s sounds very balanced with more treble and again you can play with the volume and tone in order to get a wide palette of sounds and at the end the bridge pickup is an animal as it delivers everything from rock to aggressive metal squealing doom if you want. One important thing I realized is that P90s are very different from humbuckers so they emphasize your playing either in a good or bad way so consider this because if you will play sloppy and not accurately it will sound worts than you play but on the other side they are so hi-fi that you can make this guitar cry or sing with your bare fingers and thus guitar will sing upon your command. I feel I need to be more carefully with my playing and the dynamics and this is a sign of a professional instrument as it projects what you put through it. Overall very surprised and happy as it is way different from all the other guitars I own and it inspires me a lot to play and expand my limits of dynamic phrasing and musicality.
Pros: Those P90s are simply amazing! I checked charts and google them and a lot of people loves them and I know now why. Powerful pickups that reacts instantly to your playing and they cut very well through the mix and with all the others instruments. Very light weight about 3kilos and well balanced. No neck dive and the tuners worked perfectly and after heavy bending and frenetic playing it stayed in tune more and more so really impressed about the overall quality. One more thing these colors gibson put on the sg are simply beautiful. Found myself just steering at the guitar for minutes and minutes because how beautiful it is. So I made a great desicion and very satisfied with the purchase as I own a genuine gibson sg with P90s what a sound machine!
Cons:
The only thing I can put here is the smell of the case. I opened the case and I felt the horrible smell of glue or what is it. I still have the case open as this smell was a little on the guitar too but after a few hours it disappeared.Not a great thing but I expected a smell of the guitar only not the glue from the case.
Case candies:
As listed it comes with a hard case and this is a sign of a high grade gibson instrument. Not very often these days in other brands as they came with gig bags even at higher prices so very happy here to have my baby in a classic gibson brown case with golden logo so everybody knows and red interior. It contains a black gibson leather strap, baby foto from the gibson factory set up bench, quality check control signed by all the gibson workers working on the body, electronics, etc, it contains also the gibson multitool miracle so you can adjust everything without needing any tools, and at last the soft pad rag to clean your beauty and the owner manual and gibson unlimited warranty.
I thank Thomann for offering this limited edition and happy for having another great gibson guitar and this one beauty is my loved one and it inspires me to play in a different way and will enjoy it till the end of times. Keep rocking my friends!
