I've been looking for analog octaver and I bought this one because of it's reasonable price for an analog octaver, quality and sound combo. And I got what I was looking for!
What I like about the Tentacle Octaver the most obviously is its sound - rich and slightly fuzzy octave up. I really enjoy using it directly on clean channel or combined with fuzz. You may hear the greatest influence out of it if you'll be playing on bridge pickup, but it sounds really great on neck pickup as well.
Despite the fact that it doesn't have any knobs and switches you can still get many different sounds from it by using your guitar's volume and tone knobs - octaver reacts really well even to small adjustments.
The only thing I'm missing on it is volume knob. This is not a problem if you are using it in the very front of all pedals or if you are using it all song long. But I really like to activate it just for solo and with fuzz in front of it (it sounds better this way for me). The thing which happens is that Tentacle reduces the volume if used with pedal in front and instead of getting boost you get sound reduction for solo! Placing booster in front of it and activating it at the same time as Tentacle should solve the problem I guess, but unfortunately I haven't tried it yet.
Its quality is great, there's nothing what could break down as there are no knobs and similar easily breakable stuff. Higher chance is to somehow hurt yourself with it than to damage it :)
True bypass works great as it should - when pedal is switched off it makes absolutely no influence to guitar's original tone.
In general I enjoy this pedal a lot and recommend it for everyone who's looking for some great analog octaver up.
