These are very simple and light weight aluminium adjusters. The shaft is a single piece which is threaded along part of its length. The unthreaded part is fitted into either the body or foot of the bridge and the threaded part fits into the other in a slightly oversize hole to allow movement. The adjuster wheel then moves up and down the thread to provide height adjustment. This is a better design than some other aluminium adjusters I have encountered where the post and wheel are all one piece and the threaded part has to be fitted into a threaded hole (which requires a matching die and more time and effort to fit!) I have fitted a number of these adjusters on basses with out a problem, however recently I have had problems with a couple of sets where, although fine when fitted, after a few days they have jammed up. On removal I have found the threads to be blocked with metal dust. On both sets I ended up cleaning the threads with a tap and die to regain smooth running. This slightly loosened the wheel on the shaft but seems to have cured the issue and doesn't appear to have had a detrimental effect. I don't know if I just had a couple of sets that were not cut quite right (although they appeared fine when first fitted) or whether there is something more fundamentally wrong.... If it wasn't for these problems I would give them a 5 star rating, but as it is they get 3.
