This was a great purchase for my 15 year old daughter's first guitar. I've been a professional guitarist myself since 1974 and agonised for ages over all the guitars on offer before choosing this one - sight unseen - from the Thomann website. In this price range (under £200) there are a great many "starter" guitars, and at first it was quite hard choosing. She aleady plays ukulele and wanted to move over to guitar, but she was finding it quite hard work learning on my work instruments (a Takamine and vintage Guild F-30).
In the end we narrowed it down to a three-quarter scale travel guitar that would be small enough for her hands, reasonably low tension on the strings, and light and easy for her to carry to and from school. In that category, this little Cort won hands-down. For a cheap, mass produced guitar the build quality is excellent, in fact the machine heads are better than those on my Guild. It's a real delight to play with a pretty good dynamic range from quiet pingerpicking to lead lines where the notes kind of "sing out". In many ways it feels like a much more expensive guitar (although we did spend another £50 getting it professionally "set-up" at a West End workshop in London - money well spent).
The one downside, inevitable for a small-bodied guitar (especially at this price) is that it can't compete with a full sized guitar for overall volume and richness of tone. Close-miked it sounds fine on recordings, but acoustically you don't get much warmth and bottom end with a body this small.
In summary: this is a well designed guitar with outstanding build quality for the price. I'd unhesitatingly recommend it either a young beginner, or any travelling musician who wants a super-portable (but highly playable) instrument for the hotel/tour bus/dressing room. It even comes with a serviceable travel bag: although not padded, it's perfect for home use where a high level of protection isn't required. Superb value for money
This is a really cool little instrument, I have had mine for 5 years now and I still love it! At first glance, this travel guitar does not seem like it could fill a room with its beautiful sound, but it does. I could not believe the volume that this thing produced when I first played it. The craftsmanship is really good and the quality and finish are really nice.
The only negative thing I can mention about this guitar is the intonation; it is still a little out of line even after some professional maintenance work. This is why the overall sound is only an "Okay" for me, before it can sound slightly out of tune at times.
Overall, a really cool instrument, especially when you want to take your music on the road!
