I installed my first set on my ES-335, and all I can say is I love them. They sound broken in right off the bat, but still sweet and bright. They're perfectly balanced and toneful. I think they're micro coated, so we'll see how they last. They make the claim to be long lasting, and I always wash my hands before playing, so hopefully they stay fresh sounding for awhile.
Pro's: Incredible sound- Both the string tone AND the finger noises Acoustic "feel"- they don't feel synthetic Longer life than normal strings Not easily broken like Elixir's
Con's: Will likely last only a few weeks rather than the months that Elixir's will befor sounding dull String feel will take some getting used to if you're used to slippery Elixir's
In resume, it can be a nice subtitute for Elixir strings...
Maybe I had a bad pack but after all the hype over these I expected a lot more. They didn't feel like a fresh set of string when just put on and hey didn't last anywhere near as long as advertised (even with regular wiping down) and you can clearly see some wear from the frets. This obviously lead to them not feeling very fresh or particularly nice to play.
On the other hand, even though they look/feel a bit crap they still sound relatively bright so they sound better than they look/feel like they should.
I'd be open to trying them again some time to see if I just had a dud pack, but for now I'll stick with the coated Ernie Balls since they haven't let me down yet.
