The headphones sound very authentic, but dimly and weakly. I believe that for this sound to get used to. 400 ohm - it requires a very high-quality headphone amplifier. It is not enough to connect these headphones to the usual mixer or sound card. DT100 are very comfortable and soundproof. In addition, these headphones can be successfully used for recording classical instruments. Academic musicians love this very natural sound. Personally, I prefer a different model from Beyerdynamic - DT150. This is my favorite studio headphones. Thomann offers a very low price for this model, by the way.
I bought these headphones in 2011 as part of my college course equipment and still heavily rely on them now! I needed headphones for both tracking and mixing and found that these would be the best option, I wasn't wrong.
Obviously finding one set of cans that will do both proficiently is too realistic, and I found that the bass response lacks a little when mixing. But for tracking the headphones themselves are robust and clear.
My set have been in and out of a rucksack for the past 4 years and they still look as new. The pads never collapsed but I have had problems with the cable. I believe that over constant use they wires inside the detachable cable have frayed at the jack end and the connection can be choppy. This maybe be down to my own doing though.
Another great bonus is the ability to buy spare parts separately from the likes of Thomann just in case!
