Ok for the price but you really need to balance the "MIC GAIN" and "OUTPUT" knobs just right to get a useable sound. Too much of the first will give a harsh sound and too much of the latter will give a muddy sound. A decent sound CAN be achieved but it will require a bit more work than with a higher quality micpre. And forget about ribbon mics, this unit is much too noisy for those.
Changing the tube is not possible without taking the unit apart, and I don't mean just removing the lid. The whole thing needs to be completely disassembled, circuit boards and all, voiding the warranty of course... A bit of a shame as changing the stock 12AX7 for a slightly lower gain 5751 can really help this unit a bit.
Like on most Behringer rack gear the knobs are small and feels cheap. The front panel is hard to read in dim studio lighting.
Still, it's not as bad as some people out there claim but it needs some care setting up. I'm not convinced about long term reliability though as the unit gets MUCH too hot (and it's not the tube!).
I use MIC2200 Ultragain Pro on the stage, the microphone just breathing, the saturation (thanks to 12AX7), the low levels can be heard without straining your voice and all this - without affecting the dynamics of the microphone... ?n the front panel has everything you need to set the tone that you need. It allows you to connect the microphone in to the line input of the mixer (as I do). Have a nice sound, guys!
