I already had a very good idea about this amplifier as I own a Nu3000. Seeing as this contains two Nu3000s inside my impressions should be close to how I feel about the NU3000. Most of us know that if you halve the figures you are much closer to the real world power of the Behringer. The figures quoted are peak power. If you use it outputting that kind of power maybe you are the type of person who drives your car on the Autobahn at its maximum speed.......for half an hour and then wait for the breakdown services to come and pick you up. The next day you buy a new car eh?!!! It's great to have two amps in one box. The crossover seems to work better than on the NU3000 although I haven't used the 3000 in that way for a time. It feels better made than the 3000 too (the connectors look of a higher quality) and it certainly weighs more but still as amplifiers go (old skool) it weighs next to nothing. On the whole the real dissapointments are a lack of alternative speaker sockets (binding posts would be nice), no facility to daisy chain and needing to bridge on the speakon sockets which is certainly something that has to be planned in advance and cables made up accordingly. Oh and the plastic handles are a lesson in stupidity. I can't fathom why they think that is a good idea. It's a strange compromise and makes the amp a bit of a Frankensteins monster in my opinion. Maybe it was needed because of how they tooled up for manufacture. Maybe they were on a mission to have one of the lightest amplifiers made. When all is said and done I got it at a good price and compared to amplifiers of a few years back it makes possible the seemingly impossible. Good sound, power and flexibility and (hopefully longevity) in a lightweight package. I strongly suggest if you are shy of trusting Behringer to give these amps a go. I do have a Crown XLS1000 and an AB Precedent 980a. Even the 3000 alone can stomp all over the Crown for power at a similar price and I think the 3000 can hold it's own with the AB Precedent which has well over 1000wrms into a 2ohm load. The AB is wonderful but at over 15kgs I leave it at home. The 3000 weighs under 4kg!!! Treble is fine smooth enough and not gritty at all. Midrange is clear cool and detailed. Not hard and ear fatiguing either. Bass is slamming and will tax your speakers as an amplifier should. It's tight too and not woolly and woofy (woofy=indisctinct) These amps are the original badboys!! Oh and Thomanns service was exemplary. The way I paid for these with an interntational transfer from France and a payment from an English card was convoluted but they never missed a beat. Packed brilliantly and despatched quickly. I used to do customer service myself with similar products and these guys and gals don't miss a beat. Germans. No wonder they keep beating us at football!!!
