Thought I should do an update to the review below. I found that nearly all the problems I had below cleared up when I added a good quality powered USB hub to my setup and routed all my USB gear through it. Even though nothing I had needed power, these seems to have stabilised it.
I guess this shoudln't be necessary, but now I can't complain about the unit. Does everything it's supposed to.
If I wanted to be critical on the sound, it does seem to me to be a little cold compared to my Tascam DP 24, but it's otherwise clean and usable.
I've had this for about a year and used it on 3 different PCs with different OS. On each I have the same major problem. The unit resets itself during a session and then all audio glitches really badly and the DAW session must be restarted. This problem does not occur when I use another interface.
Other problems I've seen:
1. Analog out channels 1 and 2 have become very noisy, like an old faulty lead has been attached, but the leads I'm using are new and of good quality. Doesn't happen on the other channels.
2. The phantom power will not power some mics. These work very well with other units.
I have the latest drivers and windows updates installed.
Overall I'm disappointed with this product. The feature set is exceptional for the price, but it just doesn't deliver for me. I'm not a 'behringer hater', I have many behringer products and most of them perform well. This one however seems to have problems in my experience.
I have always been a Creative fatal1ty champion lover, but it started to play up. My Son (MIRRORED THEORY or Jakeos2) go check him out, said, Dad, time to come out of the stone age, and recommended this little beast.
I hate to admit it but, WOW. I listen to a lot of Music, and do a little recording. I use a recent version of Magix Music Maker. i know, also in the stone age, but it does what i want it to do.
Put the drivers in from the Behringer web site, no bloat ware like Creative. Magix recognized the sound card, selected it, and that set my latency. I set the DAW output on the sound card, and that was about all i had to do.
I am running PC fire wire in, that powers the sound card without using an external power supply, and carries the sound to. Then selected optical out to my Logitec Z906 speakers.
What a sound it makes. Direct channel Guitar input. No hiss. 0 latency through guitar rig. This is just my way of using the sound card for my own needs, but if you read up on it there is so much more you can do. What more could a Dad ask for, but don't tell the SON he was right ha ha ha.
