It works but I wouldn't buy it again or recommend it
I play a software piano (Garritan CFX) on my VAIO laptop controlling it form my Kawai digital piano. I use the laptop's embedded audio with ASIO4ALL and I have very low latency with great sound quality. However the volume level is not enough for my Sennheiser HD-595s. Besides, if I switch my piano off and and then on again, the MIDI USB connection is not resumed.
That's why I was in need of an external audio interface with headphone output (hoping it would be loud enough) as well as MIDI DIN input so that MIDI controller restarts would be hassle free. I thought the Alesis Control Hub would work for that.
It does and doesn't. The MIDI works great! Audio works, although latency (with ASIO4ALL) is higher than with the embedded soundcard. It's the audio quality that is poor though. I can hear some slight digital hiss-like artifacts. And the sound volume is still not loud enough.
I am keeping it for its MIDI functions because it's cheap enough (and it will cost me too much to return it) but I wouldn't recommend it as an audio interface.
