Yamaha CGX 102

This guitar was supposed to be my cheap alternative, but it has become my main guitar for work. If tomorrow it breaks or gets stolen I will immediately order a new one.

I started off with listening to the 'pickup only' recordings on thomann for a classical guitar with a pickup for gigs. I had the option to spend more, but honestly liked the 'matte' sound of this guitar over guitars three times its cost- and I listened/searched for a few hours.

I have played gigs that made me more money than the cost of this guitar, and honestly always still feel like it sounds straight up, professional and perfect for what I want. I get a kick out of that, and feel like the people at Yamaha do, too- as this guitar hardly gets loving care, new strings, or easy playing, and it takes all the beatings and never left me hanging. I take it with me on the motorcyle in a normal bag (strapped to the bike), it felll a few times, the strap is on there with an ugly tie wrap and lots of kids got to handle this guitar. The sound is great, although not as much projection of the sound as my solid classical guitars (Alhambra 7c and 7f). Pickup sounds so good and natural its bizarre. Output is a bit on the low side but always enough.
Big plus: works with normal batteries.

Really, I lóve this guitar. I feel like Yamaha absolutely nailed it and perfected the budget classical guitar for live shows. I hardly ever was as satisfied with anything as I was with this guitar. I'd have paid double the price and said the same- and I am known to be a bit of a cheapskate haha.

A good & versatile purchase at this price point.
It has a basic yet effective on-board tuner/amp, coupled with a clear tone.

However, why just 4 stars for quality?
Some varnish burrs upon the inside edge of the sound hole, plus the binding was a bit rough/uneven in places.
After setting-up, polish, careful filing of the burrs & a string change it plays and projects very well.

Ich suchte eine Nylonstring Gitarre die

- robust und nicht zu teuer ist um damit am Lagerfeuer zu spielen
- einen schönen und lauten unverstärkten Klang hat
- gut bespielbar ist
- ein Pickupsystem hat, welches annehmbar klingt und mit dem ich mich unkompliziert bei Akustiksessions einklinken kann.

Mit der Yamaha CGX 102 habe ich genau das gefunden, was ich gesucht habe.
Sie ist natürlich nicht mit einer Meistergitarre zu vergleichen aber sie hat mit der Werksbesaitung einen angenehmen ausgewogenen Klang und eine gute Dynamik, sie klingt sowohl leise als auch laut recht gut.
Die Saitenlage war ab Werk auch so wie sie sein soll: etwas mehr als 3mm am 12. Bund.
Das Pickupsystem setzt den Akustikklang recht gut um, und klingt überraschend natürlich. Allerdings werden systembedingt Griffgeräusche am Hals und Korpus auch laut übertragen. Bei höheren Lautstärken kann es mit Rückkopplungen etwas problematisch werden (Rockband). Am Kontrollfeld gibt es einen Lautstärke und einen Tonregler. Ist dieser in der Mitte ist die Übertragung neutral. Am rechten Anschlag sind Bass und Höhen maximal, bzw. bei Linksanschlag minimal. Damit kann man (auf Kosten des Klanges natürlich) Rückkopplungspfeifen und -dröhnen bei höherer Lautstärke etwas in den Griff bekommen.
Der eingebaute Tuner ist von der Bedienung her zufriedenstellend (nur 3 kleine LEDs die jeweils unterschiedlich hell leuchten) aber ausreichend genau. Er arbeitet sogar chromatisch, ist auf 440 Hz geeicht und schaltet sich bei Nichtgebrauch der Gitarre selbstständig ab. Bei einem Auftritt würde ich vermutlich ein externes Stimmgerät benutzen, aber für den Hausgebrauch und für Sessions ist er vollkommen ausreichend.
Die aktive Elekronik benötigt zwei 1,5V AA Batterien die im Lieferumfang dabei waren.

Die Verarbeitung der "Made in Indonesia"-Gitarre ist übrigens in Ordnung. Mir sind einzig ein paar Unsauberkeiten beim Übergang Griffbrett zum Schalloch aufgefallen.
Ein richtiger Handschmeichler ist der matt lakierte Hals.
Zu meinem vollständigen Glück fehlt mir nur noch ein Gurtpin am Halsfuß, aber da gibt es ja Mittel und Wege..
