Een mooi instrumentje met fijn ontspannen toon

Dit is een leuk instrumentje wat fijn in de hand ligt door de maat en vorm. Een goede koop, hele mooie kwaliteit voor deze prijs, eigenlijk is het geen geld voor wat je krijgt.

De kleur is prachtig, het hout ruikt lekker en resoneert prettig mee. De klank van het gepolijste staal is zuiver, erg fijn en ontspannen. De tonen zijn met bijgeleverd hamertje goed zuiver te krijgen, maar behouden een beetje eigenzinnig karakter, de toon is geweldig en de klank is warm. Ik denk dat dit handwerk is. Luister het geluidsfragment, in het echt klinkt de duimpiano nog iets helderder.

De korte stalen (D,B links en vooral de E rechts) zijn net iets stijf, maar daar heb je wel 17 klanken voor. Je hoeft geen lange nagels te hebben wil je deze Kalimba bespelen. Een optie is om duimplectrums en een boekje mee te bestellen, maar dat is persoonlijk.
Stickertjes met markering of noten zijn optioneel en worden los meegeleverd. Je krijgt er een zwarte draagzak bij, een opbergdoos zou mooier zijn geweest. Dit is echter bijzaak en past niet bij de prijs.
Kortom een erg leuk instrumentje met een geweldige eigenzinnige en ontspannen toon. Hier wordt ik wel gelukkig en relaxed van!

I love the TK17-R Kalimba!
Such a calming instrument to play. The tone is held for a surprisingly long time and it plays louder than you'd think - It fills the room!

Pros: Durable, clean tone, intuitive to play.
Cons; Needs tuning as frequently as a guitar - But hey, it's an instrument!

Pro tip; You can use any kind of tuner for it! And you can put a piezo mic inside of it to get a real clean recording of it (Or just use a regular microphone, you do you...)

I got this Kalimba now almost 3 years ago and it's still in tune! Very sturdy instrument, excellent wood quality and make, really convenient size ... the whole nine yards.

I found the sound to be a lot more pleasant (and volume slightly louder) than that of other (more expensive) kalimbas I had the chance to play/listen to.

Obviously, the high notes in kalimbas are always a concern as most entry-level ones don't sound them that well, but I've had no issue with how the high notes on this kalimba sound—I rarely play pieces that include them, anyway.

One thing I intend to do when upgrading to a more advanced instrument (say to a 21-key one) is getting one with carved notes on the tines. The stickers (which conveniently come with the product) are a very cumbersome substitute to that; half-glued stickers produce an abnormally strong vibration when the tine is played, and they fall off pretty easily over time. One could obviously solve that by learning the notes, but I'm not there yet.

All in all, with its ridiculously low price and great quality, this product comes highly recommended.

A fine quality instrument, comfortable enough to hold and play. The sound is quite satisfying, especially the lower keys, and the holes in the box allow for an easy vibrato effect. Unfortunately the highest keys have a small background noise that’s not easy to avoid and are not as loud as the rest. Easy to clean and keep in the cloth bag that comes with it. Had no need for the stickers but it’s good the option is there. As a first-time Kalimba-user it's perfect!
