Big glass tube

So yes you need to know that Glass is bigger then your standard EL84.
Tube is heavier too. Big plates. That is only negative sides of this tube. But I think those are the best things about this tube as well. Size wise it is millimeter at most but it does not fit in like one or two amplifiers as much as I know. But this size and weight is doing something. It is very robust tube. Can handle nice Voltage and power. It is a EL84 but has some of the 6V6 sound to it as well. So this is making it special. More bottom end. More headroom. Nicer top end. Very musical tube especially for clean sound. Overdriven sounds good but break up is bit different than your typical EL84. Not bad one but different. For example this will make Vox AC30 better clean amp. But if you want to run it driven only maybe some other EL84 will be better.

Fantastic however not for everyone

These valves were perfect for the application I wanted. I used them in a 20 watt Jet City JCA20HV to beef up the headroom of this amp further (along with a NOS 5751 pre-amp valve) and make the amp far more reliable for gigging. I feel these have enhanced my tone and have added a hi-fi like character with deep, extended lows and a clear, rounded top-end.

Because they have a a much longer life than standard el84's I have biased my amp slightly hotter to really assess what these sound like pushed. They still manage to retain clarity and have a much smoother character than the standard valves - think of a mid point between an EL84 and EL34 with more natural compression. If you play a lot of clean, jangly stuff and have Vox style amp, these will really open up the power section and you'll love them! If you have something more akin to a Marshall that's very crunchy and growly, then perhaps your power section won't be working hard enough for you with these.

Of course with anything, YMMV - Get yourself a set and experiment!

Good tubes with great sound!

I replaced the tubes in my Orange Tiny Terror with these and it was a good decision. The EL84M pair sounds great! They have a warm and fat tone with enough power. I used the tubes for about 2 weeks now, so I can't say much about the quality.

Needed new power tubes and i saw that these are top bought tubes here and that they last very long ( they really do). They are not something extraordinary but they do the job . Sounds good !
