SKB SC56 Uni Soft Case E-Guitar

Ik wilde geen gitaarkoffer, maar geen enkele gitaartas leek me stevig genoeg voor mijn Gibson. Ook de softcases van Thomann en Gator geprobeerd. Die zijn wel stevig, maar niet écht hard. Dus mijn twijfels bij of die de kop van de gitaar wel genoeg zouden beschermen. Nu heb ik de bescherming van een koffer (want binnenkant is hard), maar ik kan hem wel op mijn rug dragen en heb ruimte voor accessoires.

Twee nadelen, tot nu toe: De balans is niet zo fijn. Zeker niet als je dus wat accessoires in het voorvak hebt. Heeft rubbervlakken aan de zijkant van de tas (zoals je de gitaar zou neerzetten), maar dan valt-ie vrij snel om. Ook als je de tas openmaakt, is het topdeel vaak te zwaar, dus blijft het onderste deel niet op de grond liggen (ook niet met gitaar, mijn gitaar is wel vrij licht voor een Les Paul).

Andere nadeel is dat de rits helemaal open moet, en dat is helemaal rondom de hals, om de gitaar erin of eruit te halen. Ik snap dat het bij dit ontwerp nodig is, maar het is wel een beetje onpraktisch.

Maar verder: bescherming is echt top, en het is supermakkelijk vervoeren. Echt, bijna perfect.

Overall it's great for that price, very light weight, les paul type guitar fits really well in it.
But, who designed that side pocket? a book with sheet music will not fit inside of it, since its corners are rounded. maybe 5 or 10 A4 format pages can fit because of that pocket design, but not many more. Forget about storing a book of sheet music there. So this rounded pocket design is limiting.
Also this case has some hard plastic patches to supposedly lay the case on the side. But it does not hold at all. it falls. So, strange design decision there as well.

Anyway, i'm not regretting the purchase. it does the job, and is more easy to carry than a hard-case

It was really difficult for me to find a good case for my investment (Les Paul Custom) , and as a motorcycle rider i didnt want any kind of soft gigbag (no matter how thick it could be). The SKB SC56 Uni Soft Case is the perfect combination between a hard case and a gigbag!!! And its also pretty light (compared to the original custom shop hard case). Really comfortable and secure. Just one small disadvandage: there's no cavity for the pickup selector switch on the inside of the upper lid , so you either have to unscrew it and store it in one of the many pockets, or "dig" a small hole on the foam material. Despite that , for me is a perfect 10

I bought this soft case for the good protection that it provides. It is very solid, and I am pretty sure that my guitar will be safe and sound when carrying it around. It has some nice extra pockets to fit in cables, guitar stand, and some small stuff. And it is very lightweight. Minusses (for me personally) are that when you put something in the front pocket, de bag tips over when you take the guitar out. It is less stable than a hardcase, but that's a choice you have to make. To me it is a perfect light case with plenty extra space. Just for a Les Paul - I don't think anything else will fit in there...
