In the 80's and 90's there were quite a lot of metal bands that played their guitars through a Randall amp (Chuck Schuldiner, Dimebag Darrel, Scott Ian to name a few) and this amp has the means to bring back that sound but also go much further in time with modern high gain overdrive.
The controls work really great to dial in the exact tone you need and for the modern metal it can really do that with the extra mid-scoop and bass-boost buttons, However, and in my opinion to this amp the only little bad part, there is only 1 EQ for all 3 channels (clean, gain1 and gain2) which was for me not a real problem but i can see why it could be for some.
Features, it has everything i need and quite a nice reverb which i enjoy for my lead parts which make me not need a extra pedal on the floor anymore.
Sound oh the sound, tight and thick the way a amp should sound in my opinion. clean channel works great with the reverb to give it those 80's sounds, the gain1 makes it sound just like the 80's and 90's and gain2 sound just like the modern stuff.
Build is just sturdy, toured with it and it lasted like a champ
5/5 one of the best solid-state amps i've use and still use
Helaas is er een fout opgetreden, probeert u het a.u.b. later nogmaals.
Randall RG 1503 - Probably the best solid state heavy amp in the world
This thing is amazing, especially at such a relatively cheap price. If you want a great heavy metal tone look no further. It's similar (apparently) to the RG100 Dimebag used, and you can definitely get a great Pantera-like sound from it. Having said that, playing with EQ you can get loads of different tones out of it. If you want some sort of Metal/Hardcore/Heavy sound which will blow off some heads, this is for you. I play an ESP with an EMG 81 pickup, and I love what I get from this amp. I've got a small Laney IRT212 cabinet which I use at home. Amp sounds great with this, as well as with bigger Marshall cabinets I've used (better on the Marshall). By the way even on a small 2x12 cabinet this thing is loud as f*ck!
Minor cons: Only one EQ for all 3 channels. Annoying when switching to the clean channel, although the clean tone by no means sounds terrible on the same eq settings I use for the dirty channel.
It is noisy. This is a very high gain amp so unwanted noise is to be expected (hum/buzz). I use an ISP Decimator II G-String to shut it up. This works brilliantly, so no longer an issue. I highly recommend getting this pedal with this amp.
Pro's: Heavy!!! Simple Reliable FX Loop Plenty of tone options to chose from Cheap Excellent if you hate your neighbours
I ordered this from Thomann to the UK, and it turned up in good time with no issues. Came with a UK plug. Completely happy.
