Ernie Ball 2915 M-Steel

De snaren klinken prima, zeker voor metal als je veel output wilt. Maar de durrzaamheid is erbarmelijk slecht. Na twee oefensessies met de band en een oefenavondje thuis brak de D-snaar. Twee dagen later had ik een optreden en ik heb ze vervangen door D'Addario EX-140, die het prima hebben gehouden en net zo goed klinken. Ik heb toen de set vervangen was de dikke M-Steel E-snaar gewoon met blote handen kunnen breken. Na twee keer knikken trok ik hem zo doormidden. Dit is dan ook nog eens een set die drie maal zo veel kost als gewone snaren. Ik ben nu even over op D'Addario EX-140. Voorheen had ik Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom. Dit zijn twee goede snaren die je normaliter niet breekt binnen drie maanden (drie avonden per week spelen). De M-Steel snaren: laten liggen, niet doen. Advies aan Thomann: haal deze TROEP uit jullie assortiment, dit past niet bij een kwaliteitswinkel als van jullie.

I am a big fan of Ernie Ball strings. And I have been using the Cobalt Strings for a while and compared to the "normal" strings it sounds louder and tighter and they last longer. I decided to try the M-steel which is basically the Cobalt with a steel core. And I feel they have the same property of the cobalt but even louder and so far they have lasted quite a long time. I am very happy with it!

I like to try different string gauges and brands but I always end up back at Ernie Balls.....and it's usually the slinkys I go for.
I recently bought these as I play SKA music (lots of hard chops) on my Telecaster and I wanted a bit more "volume" when jumping into lead parts without having to fuss around with controls. That said, I reckoned the Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom would be ideal for my type of playing.

These strings certainly delivered, not only that, I never managed to break any of them! The only thing I had to struggle with was string bending due to the heavier gauge but I soon toughened up the fingertips to compensate. I also noticed they keep their tone longer than other strings, which is great because....who wants to spend time changing strings!

I'm very happy with these and (sorry Fender) have ditched the bullets as I keep breaking them. I will also be trying them on my Les Paul just to see how they fair over burstbuckers.
