Amazing.

Through the last 30 years I?ve tried all kinds of strings. Now I was looking for the perfect strings on my Gibson SJ-200. Online I read that the aluminium bronze alloy is more than a gimmick, so I tried these.

The strings are not as shiny as ?normal? strings. They have a faded, worn look. The first time playing them they feel like that too. A bit stiff, used, without live. But that is not what you hear.
The stiffnes in playing translate in almost indefinite dynamics. Soft fingerpicking gives you a soft mellow tone. Heavy ?chord bashing? or bluegrass licks give you a loud mellow tone. No tune-bending or rattling or other noises. In combination with the SJ-200 it?s like playing without limits.

Soft, loud, fingerpicking, plectrum, these strings can endure much more than I?m used to. These strings you can rely on. They just do what you tell them to, nothing more. That?s the stiffnes you will first experience and value later on.
I?m a fan.

When something new comes up, I am always willing to give it a go. And this one is definitely a stayer. I used to play on Martin Lifespan SP's. Great strings too. But the Ernie Balls really jumps out. It is actually true: The have considerable more definition. More power. Sounds very, very good. If you look for a vintage, more woody tone, you might want to look a bit further. But for definition and bright en tightness in a (live) mix, Ernie Ball is unbeatable.

Ik wide deze snaren eens proberen op mijn Cedar top Furch steelstring gitaar, Normaal gesproken speel ik met Elixir, Maar voor deze gitaar ben ik om, de aluminum bronze van Ernie Ball, klinken een stuk briljanter. Echt een aanrader voor iedereen die tot nu toe vast zat aan Elixir's

Niet wat ik gehoopt had

Ik heb deze snaren om mijn Gibson L00 gezet na zeer overtuigd te zijn geweest van de Elixers. Na enkele reviews nieuwsgierig geworden naar deze snaren. Voor mij prevaleren de Elixers verreweg boven deze. Ik vind met name het geluid zeer hard als je over de hals heen moet schuiven. Het is uiteraard een kwestie van smaak. Dat moet altijd in gedachten gehouden worden.

Op mijn elektrische gitaren heb ik overigens wel altijd Ernie Ball snaren!
