Excellent quality but HUGE!!!

I purchased this to use with a Harley Benton electric upright (exact same shape as the Palatino upright).

The build quality of the stand is EXCELLENT! I can't see this ever breaking or failing in any way.

Two things might be worth mentioning:

1) Size. The legs need to be extended wide for the stand to be stable. This means it will take up a LOT of floor space. A lot more than I expected. Think PA speaker stand rather than mic stand.

2) Although the stand itself is very stable it isn't designed for any specific bass model. This means the bass will sit somewhat loosely inside the stand. It does seem reasonably stable though and as good as can be expected for a "one size fits all" solution that is designed to work with a variety of different electric uprights. At first the stability worried me a little but I've tried knocking the bass out of the stand and I can't see it happening unless something overturns the stand itself.

Conclusion: Excellent quality, highly recommended!

Really bad experience with this. When first settingit Up, like another reviewer on this I didn?t clamp it correctly, the whole upper assembly slipped sideways and my bass fell off, causing a fair amount of damage to my beloved instrument. How come I didn?t clamp it correctly? Well, I looked at the instructions but they were only in German. Come on guys, if you?re going to ship internationally, this kind of document should at least include English as a more widely-used international language. It?s a well made piece of equipment but it?s going to take a long time before I trust it again. And my bass will need a trip to the luthier before I can use it again.

Big and stable

I use this with an NS Design WAV4, with a DIY endpin.

The design is excellent, and it's easy to use, even if it soaks up a lot of floor space. As another reviewer said, think PA stand rather than guitar stand. And it's made by K&M, so it has that reassuring feeling that it'll outlast you.

I've had exactly one scary moment with it, when I didn't clamp it properly, and the top part rotated and allowed my bass to fall sideways. After catching the instrument, I screwed it in properly and that's never happened again. Entirely user error, but a gotcha worth knowing about.

The fork is large, to accommodate all sorts of bass necks, but this is a feature. Because it has a relatively narrow neck, I can practically let my bass fall in the general direction of the stand and know that the stand will catch it.

I only knocked one star off the handling because it's necessarily big, which means it's awkward to move around once it's set up.
