It is a plastic stringwinder
Norse, 24.02.2020
If you need to wind strings, this will help you wind strings.

It is a plastic stringwinder that winds strings, all while being made of plastic. I used it to wind strings on my guitar, in order to wind some other strings on the same guitar. The winder is made of plastic, which is a solid and therefore can be used to wind the strings. Had this stringwinder been made of yoghurt it would not have worked.

If you need a stringwinder for less than €1.50, why are you reading reviews? Just purchase it already :)

When I finished changing my strings with this tool for the first time I asked myself if I just changed my strings or did a Formula 1 pit-stop.

Got the black one
José Meira, 26.07.2020
It does the job. It has a little notch in the other end that actually helps you getting those acoustic guitar pegs that hold the strings in the bridge. I use it every time I need to swap strings and my friends all bought one for themselves

They might have improved construction
erikmonsonis, 18.01.2021
I've read some comments saying they are fragile, but that's not the impression I got from it. It might be, but so far it's felt solid and does the job just fine. For the price I couldn't care less if it breaks down the road.

Cheap and simple
Anon-e-mus, 26.10.2020
I always though guitar winders were just for those of us who were too lazy to operate the tuners. But restringing a guitar is a necessary chore and every little bit helps. For this price you can't really go wrong. The slot has covers the tuning peg and from there you just wind the handle in the direction you want. The slot is kind of a large universal shape. It doesn't provide a snug fit to the tuners so it feels sloppy to tune and you have to hold it in place. But it still works faster than turning by hand.
A small price for a little more convenience, it certainly saves some time when doing one of the less glamorous of guitar maintenance tasks.

It works
Gingicecon, 10.11.2020
Its a string winder, it works as a string winder (much easier than fully winding by hand).
Its got a notch to pull the pegs out of an acoustic bridge, it works as a thing to pull the pegs out of your acoustic bridge (saves my nails so much pain).
It works.

Does what it should
Jonas Lange, 02.04.2021
Not more, not less. The head is pretty well designed in that it fits a variety of tuners. Makes changing strings a whole lot easier for cheap.

Honestly barely better than doing it by hand. Keeps sliding out. I think it might work better with larger tuning heads, but even then, the cheap plastic does not give me confidence

Exclusively humanmade
MAMPG, 12.01.2021
Great string winder, so cheap I bought two just in case I loose one. The slot is quite big which is OK because i lined the inside with cloth to prevent it scratching the thumb wheels.

Hard Plastic, very fragile
jodolittle, 06.01.2021
Although this is a clever design, the materials used in making them is very brittle and all it took was for me to drop mine on (admittedly) a hard tiled floor and the thing broke at the join between the winder and the winder receiver. Cheap, but nasty, unfortunately.

Surprisingly sturdy!
Mofosir, 05.01.2018
Have been playing guitar for over 14 years and for unknown reasons I never had a string winder, so I ordered a couple to add to my overall purchase. Since these are the cheapest ones I really expected them to be clunky and fragile, but actually, it's the polar opposite! They are pleasantly hefty, the plastic is quite thick and feels very sturdy. Also, the little bit on the rotating end for acoustic guitar pins is invaluable! The colors are randomized, as far as I understand, and I got one in black and one in red. They definitely look different in person than on the pictures - the colors are darker, much deeper. Also You can adjust the ease of rotation through a screw that is located in the shaft of the stringwinder, which is helpful since I seem to prefer a smooth turn rather than a very light one. Haven't really found any cons since there's not that much to it - it's a very straightforward little tool. I really don't understand why would anyone want to pay four, five times the price of this for literally the same thing, unless You change strings so often that You need the drill bit/end. Anyhow, would recommend!

Does the job, and well.
Benjamn, 09.04.2019
Sturdy plastic build, will probably not break with normal usage. The hole for the peg is quite large, which I first thought would make it sloppy and hard to use, but it turned out to be an advantage since it handles smaller pegs with ease, so I can see this being used on most guitars regardless of peg size. Spinning action is effortless and it really speeds up your string change for a small prize, a must have!

I thought it was going to fall apart quickly, I thought wrong...
SlipperyNutz, 27.03.2021
It works well and smoothly on a select few types of tuners. It doesn't fit on the tulip style tuners on my Harley Benton SC-550. It fits on all the other types of tuner I have and other than that, I am yet to run into any issues. Buy it if you are constantly changing strings, it'll make your life easier!

graymac, 17.02.2020
I thought these looked pretty "cheapo" and unsubstantial in the picture, they're really fine though. Every player needs one (or two) of these.
( I gave 4" for quality, simply because of the plastic material, but really it's plenty good enough)

Great string winder but it's not for bass guitars
Rusty-S, 23.09.2017
After many years of playing the guitar I finally got around to buying a string winder. I avoided buying one because I don't change my strings as often as I probably should, but having a string winder really does make changing strings so much more convenient.

At the time of writing this was the cheapest model on offer, but it does its job perfectly and I see no reason to spend more on the more expensive winders on offer. The plastic feels nice and durable, but more importantly, the winding action is smooth and easy in addition to feeling sturdy. The groove to extract the bridge pins on acoustic guitars is also a nice touch.

The only downside of this string winder is that it does not fit the tuning pegs on an average bass guitar.
