The RodeLink Filmmaker Kit - a great deal for the money! I've been using different wireless lavalier microphone sets for some time now, mostly Senheiser G3 series and Lectrosonics SMB E01 series. The biggest problem with wireless microphone kits for me are the problems regarding signal and interference as I have had problems with both the Senheiser and Lectrosonics. In this case it is obvious that the future lies in digital signal bandwidths. The RodeLink has proven to work seamlessly and I have had no problems with it so far. For now I'm using three RodeLink sets together on different channels and the reception of signal is excellent. Also I am really pleased with the lavalier microphone provided by the kit. The capsule is nice and small, a lot smaller than the senheiser, but not as small as the DPA 4061. Also the Rode Invisilav microphone mounts are a great tool in hiding and using the microphone on film sets and its various uses. It is a MUST HAVE as it reduces the microphone handling noise to a minimum. When comparing the Rodelink to the previously mentioned wireless sets, the first thing one realises is the size of it. The Rodelink is quite big and bulky and may prove to be hard to hide. The overall build quality is satisfactory as it is made of hard plastic and feels sturdy in hand. As for the features the Rodelink is pretty straightforward, a simple on/off button and some other vital controls on the receiver. I would recommend the RodeLink to everyone in need of a wireless lavalier micorphone kit. The Senheiser G- series has long been an industry standard for many and now I honestly think that the RodeLink is far superior it! Overall a great deal for the money!

What a steal!

I bought the Rode Filmmaker Kit few months back in order to use it for my video production company here in Sofia, Bulgaria. I am using it for all sorts of video productions - from youtube review videos to advertisements and events.

The system has some amazing features that are really helpful like receiver syncing automatically to the transmitter really quick, you are able to track the battery of the transmitter remotely, you can mute the transmitter remotely! Those are few really helpful ones when you're in the field and working with your talent. The Filmmaker Kit also has a really nice long range of connectivity which makes it perfect to work on longer distances between both devices (TR & TX) without losing signal. In addition I have also bought the invisilav accessories for hiding the microphone below clothes. Really helpful and does it's purpose - you can't tell that there is a mic hidden. I am also really pleased with the quality of the lavalier mic itself although some of you might argue but I had no problems whatsoever so far. I am taking one star off because of the size of the devices. They are a bit bigger than what I'd like and can sometimes prove hard to hide but that hasn't been a problem so far. In terms of sound quality - it's really great and you can't fault the system.

In overall based on it's quality I can give it 9.5 out of 10 for me. Base on price vs. quality it's definitely solid 10 out of 10! I can and I am totally recommending it to any of you who are considering getting lav mic system like that. You won't find anything better on the market compared to the price/quality.

Great sound quality

This set hasn't let me down - generally gives excellent sound quality with good placement of the mic. Occasionally I hear interference from other RF sources, but nothing which I couldn't filter. The only downside is the size, these are really bulky.

Rodelink - Wireless for Video

Great value system, vs alternatives. Great modern features, decent build quality and most importantly it sounds great. Two downsides I've noticed - First they're a little on the llarge side when compared to the Sennheiser G3s. Secondly they only act as pairs. You can't add an additional receiver as far as I know. Sometimes we have used two receivers to one transmitter when using the G3s, perhaps one going to a PA and one to a recorder, this doesn't seem possible with the Rodelink. But otherwise it's a good system and a serious contender at that price bracket.
