Beautiful, solid, gets the job done
necromanager 07.03.2020
I moved temporarily overseas and left my guitars in storage, but soon found I had to have one around the house. I had only had super strats before, but now desired something simple and reliable, no tremolo to be able to quickly switch tunings & a bit metal. I found the EC-256 to be exactly what I was looking for. I was initially thrown off a bit by how much fatter the neck is at the headstock than my old Jackson, but I quickly got used to it.

I need to dock one star from quality since there is a very slight rough patch at the edge of the fretboard on the low E string right next to the nut. It's more of a cosmetic problem than anything else since I at least never keep my thumb there. Other than that I am very satisfied with everything.

ESP LTD EC-256 Black Satin – A Lot of Guitar for the Money
Kennykiller04 27.07.2025
The ESP LTD EC-256 Black Satin is an impressive guitar that strikes a perfect balance between affordability, aesthetics, and performance. For a mid-range instrument, it delivers surprising quality and feels like something far more expensive.

Design & Finish:
The Black Satin finish looks sleek and modern, with a subtly aggressive vibe that really stands out. The matte coating feels smooth to the touch and doesn’t get sticky, even during long playing sessions. The single-cutaway body, inspired by the classic Les Paul shape, looks solid and stylish. Cream body and neck binding add a touch of elegance you don’t always see at this price point.

Playability:
This guitar plays like a dream. The thin U-shaped neck and bound rosewood fingerboard make for a comfortable, fast playing experience. The fretwork is clean and smooth, with no sharp edges – a detail often overlooked in budget-friendly instruments. The weight is well balanced; it's not too heavy, but it still feels substantial and well-built.

Tone:
Equipped with ESP-designed LH-150 humbuckers (with coil-splitting), the EC-256 offers a wide tonal palette. From warm, thick rock and metal tones to brighter, cleaner sounds when split, this guitar handles it all. The coil-split feature adds versatility for players who want both humbucker power and single-coil clarity without switching guitars. While the pickups aren’t boutique-level, they more than deliver at this price range, offering punch and definition.

Conclusion:
The ESP LTD EC-256 Black Satin is a fantastic choice for beginners and intermediate players alike, or even pros in need of a reliable backup. It’s versatile, great-looking, comfortable to play, and built to last. Whether you're into hard rock, blues, or metal, this guitar won't let you down.

Z
Awesome guitar
Zwits 13.12.2020
Its an awesome guitar, the pickups really bite and sound very clear. really has a nice sound to it when playing metal.
Only problem I personally had with it was the balance. it tended to fall over backwards when I played it on my right leg. my friend bought it off me who plays in a band and is a better guitarist than me and he had literally no problem with that at all. It was also my first time really playing a single cut model and im used to 2 ST models, so it might be just a personal thing, but he always plays with the guitar on his left leg, so.
all and all, awesome guitar.

H
Amazing price for amazing quality
Holming 04.06.2024
This is the second guitar I have ever bought, and I am more than satisfied. I was looking for a guitar with a more heavy, spacious and blues-n-metal like sound, and this guitar more than delivered that. Even with just a Boss Katana II amp, this thing sounds absolutely amazing, and the price is crazy cheap compared to what you get. 10/10.
