A massive improvement over previous Epiphone models
Michael12, 10.12.2013
The next person I hear describing Korean Epiphones as "superior" to Chinese models will need a lesson in guitar quality assessment.

I have owned quite a few epiphones alongside Gibson models, and the latest generation of Chinese guitars (the "pro" range), are by far, the best models that Epiphone have produced in recent decades.

Epiphone have traditionally produced very good guitars which were left down by a few quality issues. Some Korean models had awful electronics, dodgy tuners, mystery woods, and random neck profiles. Chinese models suffered from inconsistent finishing, poor electronics and very often had loose frets. Cheap bridges have been an issue on both. Neither "felt" as good to play as the Gibson equivalents either.

The "pro" guitars are a whole different proposition! They are massively improved. Apart from some minor, addressable issues, they are every bit as good as instruments as the American Gibson models.

The Les Paul Custom Pro is the first Epi that I did not need to give to a luthier for critical issues.
Fretting is great, and the action can be set low. The neck profile and fretboard feel like a les paul should. Korean LPCs, though very good, did feel like a different guitar entirely to a Gibson Les Paul, mainly due to the fretboard and neck. The rosewood is smooth and dark, and feels great. Even though I do prefer ebony for the snappy attack, this looks and feels great!
The pickups are really good. They are articulate and clear, ans if you like PAFs, the Probuckers are every bit as good as Gibson Burstbuckers. I have replaced the bridge pickup with higher output pickups, but this is purely a preference thing for the music I play. I do this with most guitars, even Gibson, but the days of Epiphone pickups being poor quality are gone, thankfully. If I wanted a PAF sound, the Probuckers are great!
The electronics are very high quality, unlike older models. Smooth pots, volumes that are smooth from ten down to zero, with very good control. The coil tap is also a nice feature.
The locking bridge is good, better than the old cheap Sung Li bridges, but a Tone Pros upgrade might be better in the long term. The tuners are great too. Top quality as always from Grover. The nut is also better than older Epiphones.

The guitar is solidly built and feels of quality. This is an instrment that musicians can be proud to own. I love this guitar.

It's a beast.
Diomedes, 19.11.2018
This guitar roars like a beast. Some might find the pickups a little muddy but for me they are very good. So far i was playing with a Squier Strat so i have had enough from treble-y pickups.

I was expecting the neck to be a little more beefy and that , for me , is the only CON (personal preference) since i have HUGE PALMS and i would love it to be more thick like C shaped necks. It is wide though and that is ok, i will get used to it.
I probably got the last or one of the last pieces that remained before it goes sold out and it came damaged from delivery tracks , a small mark on the bridge plus a broken small piece of wood found inside the electronics. After contacting Thomman, they gave me a good amount of discount and now i am very happy with my purchase.I can live with the mark.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: the one i got came with an EBONY FRETBOARD which looks and plays AMAZING... i dont know why this is marked as rosewood... even on the pictures it looks dark and yes it is ebony.(the white custom on the pics looks like rosewood indeed. This was confirmed by my guitar tech as well plus he said that it came complletely set up-ed.
The push pull nobs are not of my interests , i got a Les Paul for the roaring double humbuckers but they are nice to have and they sound very good.

I would really recommend this guitar to everyone who wants to upgrade from starter guitar to something better...you will want to play everytime you look at her...and when you hold her.
