Im not sure if the drummers kit was in tune, as i was so eager to get a sound check in i didnt even pay attention to that....we didnt have time for a tune up anyway. What i did do was get him to soundcheck the snare and toms one by one, and as he was doing so i was slapping on the moon gel, trying out some different positions and other than hearing the improvement for myself, the other band members looked shocked and impressed at the great difference a tiny bit of gel can make! (I cut the original pads into halves and used one half on each tom and the snare). I will probably try larger pieces or alternative placements on the snare in the future as it still had a bit too much ring for my liking... was perfectly adequate for our requirements in the given session. These pads are so well priced I would recommend them for any studio or live application!

When you go in Jam session, they often do not have good cymbal, always have those, thick, shiny and sustaining one, I use the moongel to mute the sound and have it dried. Easy to put, easy to remove
For this purpose I give this product 5 star *****
PS: this get easily lost, make sure you remove them after your gig.
ONE LAST THING, AVOID LEAVING THE PADS EXPOSED TO HIGH TEMPERATURES, IT WILL MELT AND YOU WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO REUSE THEM. KEEP THEM IN A DRY AND COOL PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- They do what they're supposed to, and they do it remarkably well!
- You can apply them in every fashion you can think of to achieve different damping results, and even reshape them by cutting the damper with a common pair of scissors
CONs:
- They tend to stick to each other when stored in their container, I recommend using some kind of paper divider between the pads to avoid it, because tearing each other off every time can cause them to rip, in the long run

For the price, it is a no brainer!

They also work great in cymbals!! Be aware of not using to much of it or you will totally kill the tone!!

I'm using them mostly on my 14x8" snare, 2 pieces both sides at the edge to control sustain and overtones. On toms and floor toms only one works fine. Best choice if you will play other drums on gigs and don't have enough time to tune them for your applications - sometimes it's only hope to reach Dark side of the Force. You can even use it with cymbals for drier sound. It's better than adhesive tape and don't left glue traces.
Their biggest flaw is poor resistance for temperatures when you playing outside and left it on the sun. It will melt and you will not be able to use them in correct way.
The greatest advantage it that you don't need it all the time but it's good to have it in your bag.

I have only ever had to replace moon-gel because I've ripped it up myself into smaller pieces, or hit it one too many times with my sticks. They are quite durable however, and don't fall apart immediately if you do happen to hit them.

And as always, Thomann was absolutely perfect :-)

They stick pretty well and are easy to take on/off.
However, over time, especially the ones you have on your snare and toms will get small wood pieces from your drum sticks.
Running them under water doesn't really clean them off easily.
However, they are cheap enough so you can buy one pack, and decide for yourself whether these are for you or not.

i found they work best if you follow the guidelines of putting them at 90 degrees to each other. Make sure they are clear of where you hit the drum though because my drumsticks have hit them a few times and the jelly has started to tear a little. No impact on performance though.
Overall, a worthy addition to my drums and are recommended but I still prefer my RemO drum rings to reduce the after tones - simply because they are more durable.

Slap one of the wobbly things on your drumhead, or maybe two or three if you like that deadened sounding slap.

These will obviously eliminate annoying ringing tones from snares and toms without causing the horrible muffled byproduct of using duct tape and horrendous variations there-of, quieten an instrument (should you choose to add several pads) and overall help you control the timbre of an instrument.
Well worth the 10? given how many recordings these have saved!

I used to not take one off my snare drum even when transporting the drum, but it ruined it - it wore out and became unusable after taking it off. Also, from experience, a piece of gel will survive through a super hot, sunny day on stage, but it will become mushy and unpleasant, and unusable afterwards. But these are just words of advice - problems that can be easily avoided.
All in all - moongel is king, I highly recommend it!

I'm sure we will use them not only in rehearsal, but for recording and playing live as well. This little pads do the job fantasticly! They come in a little box which keeps them from getting dirty which is great too.
We highly recommend this product!

With these moongel pads I find that the process is much simpler and enjoyable, once you get them out of the box and separate them that is. As they are sticky (which is mostly a plus) they tend to stick to each other as well, but when you do (slowly!) separate them they really are easy to move around the head until you find just the perfect spot. You can even use more than one if you need to, and they don't look bad either (actually I myself like the look). This is a good product.

I use two on my snare drum, both on the batter head and three on each tom and floor tom (one on the reso head, two on the batter). You save so much time during a sound-check and when eq-ing your drums in the studio.
You might not know or expect that, but they are very good on cymbals, too; especially on the ride. They give you flexibility and you can change the sound based on the song (for example, you might play a pop song and need a bit more sustain on the ride; then you might go into a heavy song and need that bell to really stand out and have less sustain on the cymbal itself).
They are easy to clean and hard to lose, due to the small plastic case they come with.
