Fantastic !!
NAF, 12.06.2014
Put simply this is an amazing piece of equipment for the price.

If you are interested and maybe sitting on the fench about which pedal to buy then just go for it because its a no brainer.

The unit has over 100 bass effects which include distortion, compression, modulation, delay, reverb and various classic amp models. More than anyone could ever hope to use.

I bought the regular unit Zoom B1on but the X unit adds an expression pedal as well . I didnt feel that in my case it was needed however and was more than happy to buy the cheaper unit.

Up to 5 effects can be used simultaneously, they can be added together any way you wish . With all of this choice you have a huge range of different sounds and tones available to you.

But the best part for me is that the unit also has a built in drum machine with almost 70 different drum patterns to choose from. This was the main reason I bought the Zoom B1on .

I use it to practice along to and I was very impressed by the sound quality and output from the drum machine itself.

One word of warning .. check the output level of the drum machine before you first start it! Mine as set so loud that played through my 15 inch / 300 W Amp it nearly blew my head off at first !

As well as being able to connect through your amplifier there is also the possibility to play through headphones so the Zoom B1on makes a great headphone amp also .

And if that was not enough it also has a chromatic tuner which supports all standard bass guitar tunings and a 60 second looper that records what you play in CD quality

Actual use of the unit is straight forward enough and it is relatively easy enough to program . However if this is too much trouble for you there is always the huge number of preset sounds to choose from .

The construction of the unit is very strong , even if it is made from plastic it does not feel cheap nor does it feel like it will break easily . It is a sturdy unit.

Comes packaged with 4 AA batteries and you should note that the AC adapter is a separate purchase and does not come supplied with the unit.

However I replaced the supplied batteries with 4 NI-MH high quality well known brand rechargeables which I can recharge overnight when the units built in battery meter indicates that they are failing.

For less than 50 euro from the ever excellent Thomann I am sure that anybody who purchases this unit will be extremely satisfied with their decision

Hours of fun to be had with it

Perfect except for one very annoying flaw
sinp, 10.11.2019
Got the B1on a month ago, have been using it and reprogramming it a lot.

+ Great for experimenting, especially great for amp modeling.

- THE MAJOR FLAW: - I checked carefully - the audio out port buzzes! The only way to get rid of this is to only partially plug in the 1/4" instrument cable, otherwise when fully inserted, buzzing begins to sound. 3 stars for this reason. I can't trust the cable to not slide in (and buzz) or out (and disconnect) so I would not ever use this professionally.
- Presets are not subtle. Best make your own soon after playing with it. A good bassist should not need to overcompress or color their tone too much, unless you're into that kind of stuff. Audiophiles will hear that it is a little 'digital' sounding.
- No extra space to save presets; must overwrite pre-existing ones. Not a big problem, because many patches are obnoxious/over-the-top and can happily be removed.

I am worried the buzzing may have been a factory defect. In the case that it is not... That sucks.

= *For this price*, it's an awesome kit to experiment and play around. Great as entry pedal!

Good surprise
02.03.2015
I bought this unit as a beginner Bass player but it sounds good enough to be used by more advanced players. It has tons of simulations of stomp boxes and amps from the most known brands and they sound pretty accurate. It has 100 memory banks to save patches (they are already used, but you can delete the ones you don?t use and create your own)
This unit is very minimalistic button wise so, the patches can?t be created very quickly. It allows using five effects in series in every order you want. You can change all the parameters of each effect exactly as you would if you were using the unit it simulates. The changing between patches is very fast and unnoticeable.
For the time based effects you can choose to set the time manually or choose a time figure (quarter note, dotted eight, etc) and set a global time (in BPM) so your delay is perfectly in time with the rhythm, for example.
The B1on has a stereo 6.3mm jack output (it can be used as mono but you will lose one channel of the stereo effects because they will not be mixed together) that can be connected to a Bass Amplifier, a mixing table/PA system/audio interface or headphones, to practice. When you connect it to a Bass Amplifier, some details must be taken into account if you use an amp simulation both to improve the sound and to avoid damages to the amp (check the manual).
This pedal by itself sounds very good, even when compared with units that cost several times more, but you will need a good output system to make it justice (good headphones, a PA with a good subwoofer, etc.
The USB port allows firmware upgrade only or can be used to power the unit (you can use a PC or a USB phone charger to power it) if you don?t want to use batteries (4 x AA) or the power supply (not included).
This unit doesn?t support Patch backup or import via USB.
The enclosure is made of plastic, so I recommend you to be careful with it.

Amazing value for money!
Nickanimal, 30.08.2017
I really have only one issue with this pedal, and it's likely just my fault for not having found this out from the instruction booklet, and that is that it can't be easily turned on/off with a pedal click. The pedals shuffle between effect presets and deals with tuner, looper etc.

Other than that, for the price you get so many pedal effects I was overwhelmed by choice and spent a few hours just trying new things, jamming along to some drum patterns and simply having fun.

Already recommended this to a few friends of mine for its sheer value.
