Good instrument with classical feel
RiccardoGi 19.04.2020
I bought this guitar mainly to practice while living in a shared flat with other people in order to not bother everyone. (I have a Conservatory degree in classical guitar)
The instrument must not be confused for an electrified "classical" guitar. Although the diapason and dimensions of the fretboard are from standard classical models, the sound is compressed and relatively heavy on the low frequencies. You will not experience the same dynamic range and richness of sound and colors that you have from a custom made classical guitar.
Having said that, it is a great instrument to practice in near silence or experiment with pop / jazzy styles. The tuning is stable and the neck is perfectly set up as for all cheap Yamaha classicals. Everything from neck, fretboard and hardware seems to be inherited from the cheap classical range.
The sound is fairly malleable thanks to the variable blend between microphone and saddle pickup, choosing the right settings it really mimics the one of a classical guitar (recorded).
Of course, it is very light and compact, you will have to remove one of the two sides to put it in the gig bag, which is very very handy and small

BK
Good instrument, but not perfect
B. Kelemen 16.10.2021
Bought this guitar to practice classical guitar music during quiet hours so my neighbors (I live in a flat) would not be disturbed.
The quality of the instrument is exceptional, the neck is comfortable. It has one disappointing issue: it cannot be played upright as a classical guitar. With a strap it is not comfortable. With a foot-stand it is not raised as much as a real CG and also the upper frame has a sharp edge which hurts my chest. I use an ergo-play support on the CG but cannot be mounted on the SLG-200. I will have a custom wooden part made so it will have the proper position. Due to its quality and other features it is still worth it, I will not send it back. (Thomann shipping was fast and safe as always, less than a week to Hungary)
