Great price, but somewhat underwhelming
Rhyeth, 07.09.2019
The Golden Brownie's price point is by far it's most attractive feature. The tones you can procure from this aren't revolutionary, but they're great for jamming around with and could definitely be used on stage if supported by some other pedals and amp setups.

The bypass knob feels very rigid - requiring a heavy press to toggle on and off. Some like this kind of tactile feedback, but I found it to be a little dramatic in comparison to other pedals I've played with. On the bright side, it is true bypass so the tone does not suffer if the pedal is not enabled.

The knobs feel sturdy enough - I had no problems removing the top two knobs but could not manage to wrench off the bottom two. There's very little resistance when turning them - enough that you won't feel out of control when making quick adjustments. Properly mixing the Tone and Pres knobs with one another is vital in ensuring you avoid a tone that is too dark or overtly muddy, but this is all down to personal taste and what kind of sound you're looking to achieve.

The unit itself is contained within a metal case and has a surprising amount of weight given its size. It's definitely a robust mini-pedal, feeling as though it would take a fair amount of roughing about before any signs of damage would become apparent. The blue LED in the middle is bright when engaged, so you'll never question whether its in bypass or not.

All in all, the price point is probably the main draw for this pedal. There's no doubt that you can get some pretty good sounding tones out of this, but it likely won't be the definitive distortion pedal in your chain.

Brown sound in a german way
scheggia, 18.05.2020
Great pedal if you are in the quest for brown sound.
Requires a good power supply or it could turn into a noisy pedal.
Huge and greasy tone, maybe not so dynamic as other pedals on the market but if it's good for Thomas Blug it's good for me too.

PRO:
Marshall hot rodded tone in a tiny pedal;
the presence control;
great value for the price;

CONS:
not friendly with every power supply (do yourself a favor: use the HB Power Plant Junior and be happy)

Un JCM 800 dans une boite !
Salle 224, 12.04.2020
Allons y.

Matériel utilisé : Ibanez RG 1527, Micros DiMarzio Evolution, Stratocaster Classic 60's Player, Orange Rocker 15 Terror, cab Orange PPC212V.

PREMIERS CONTACTS
