What I mainly use this stick in is playing slow ballads and making cresendos. With this stick, I am able to make the most beautiful cresendos with even cheap cymbals. It also makes such great cresendos on the toms, much like those heard in orchestral drums. I am very impressed!
I haven't used it for a long amount of time yet, so I cannot tell you anything about the durability.

The Soft Ones
The Vic Firth 5A Soft Touch are quite good. You buy the sticks to produce a different sound than with a cheerful wooden head.
My drum teacher and I have already a bit herumexperimentiert. These sticks have a special feature when they are played on a fur, whether the toms, bongos or even congas are. The attack is strongly damped and "one hears more of the natural sound". For me it sounds a bit like drums or percussion from a CD -> mastered sound.
On the basin, the effect is not so good. On the ride, for example, you hardly hear it, but for an effect like that of the larger mallets, the felt head is just too small. For the crash basins you have at least the normal wooden neck.
On beater with fur: Super! On Congas: Damn good !! On tanks: Not convincing ...
