I love my Loar

Dylan Thomas, 24.10.2013
I bought this guitar in the summer as my playing had improved to the point where I thought I deserved something a little better than the basic Epiphone dreadnought I was learning on. I'm extremely pleased with this instrument. It is still a fairly basic guitar but is well made and has lots of character for the price. It's a convenient size, very comfortable to play and the vintage style and decorations have really endeared it to me. After a few months of playing, it has become like an old friend. Best of all is the sound, gutsy and guttural in the bass, sweet and singing in the treble. Intonation is a bit less than perfect higher up the neck, but I'm sure a quick set up would address this. All in all a really nice guitar at the price. As always the Thomann service was superlative.

Almost too loud

dev/sda1, 01.06.2012
At first I want to get rid of the fact that I can not really competently discuss an acoustic guitar, let alone evaluate. My first name is Stromgitarre.

Nevertheless, I have long been mindful of a small one! And relatively "quiet" acoustic guitars for blues and R'n'R. For the LH-200 VS I decided after the many almost euphoric American and German reviews. The consistent tenor was that it is much more valuable than the price suggests and should also sound great.

In fact, the guitar has a lot of charm. Although so compact in size, it is surprisingly loud, taut and defined in tone, yet homogeneously over-centered sound image. But do not worry: the basses are taut, the treble is silvery, so you can be on a still swinging spruce top in anticipation of the tonal development! An immediate resonant response is achieved. Dynamic play, stop and also the angle of the Pleks find their precipitate in the sound picture.

Both the workmanship and the strings are more than decent from the factory. Since the guitar has been offered for a while, this is an indication that the high quality is maintained. Equipped with D 'Addarios, chords are finely resolved, but also single notes sound striking and powerful. Due to the low strings, the solening is pleasantly supported, only in the high positions could one adjust a little.

Despite the small body is the sound quite loud, the neck is candle-straight, the handle board pleasantly narrow and good playable. The white bindings and the abalone inlay also make this sunburst beauty an aesthetic treat.

Like most owners of the guitar, I also played much more expensive models that the water could not reach. That is why I think that it could cost a lot of what it is offered for.

I like to get to this baby and I think I will have a lot of fun for a long time. Despite waiting, clear purchase recommendation!

Edit: Meanwhile, after a few months initially restrained, but now increasingly frequent use is also crystallizing out what is a revelation of this good piece for the microphone recording.

Contrary to heavily bassloaded dreadnoughts always well controllable in handling, the sound remains from the top shelf and this completely independent of whether solo or in the mix. Solo operation atmospheric Space-gripping, easy to position in the mix and with its own character, perfect!
