Ok, so this is an incredible sounding delay, but there are some catches that I wasn't counting on. First the pros: very solid, well built, easy to use and control. 9V DC supply (around 200mA), center negative, very silent, almost no tone sucking/volume drop, buffered or true bypass modes available, rhythmic sub-division switch, looper with undo/redo functions, and, oh, an amazing sound! Best of all: the tone editor application. That doesn't give you access to programing tone prints nor all the parameters TC uses to make their artists toneprints, but you can make some serious sounding stuff with this, from assigning multiple parameters to the knobs to controling them with an expression pedal. TC suggests a 25k log exp pedal, but I've used the M-Audio and it worked. Take time with this application and you'll get yourself some very cool sounding delays. Check out youtube demos on this.
Now the cons: footprint (it's big) but hey, if you want three presets at the tip of your foot, you'll need to get room in your board.
Now for the serious cons: first, analog delays do not change pitch when you change delay time. This is something any analog delay emulation should do. Analog delays do not re-calculate time, they change frequency. I don't know why TC wouldn't do this... Second, no matter what I tried (including the 25k log pot they suggest on the exp pedal) there is no way you can control parameters without afecting the delay time. This is a serious issue, and reported by several users: the only way I found to avoid this was to program from scratch some delay tones and NOT assigning delay time to any knob. The drawback is, since you cannot access artist toneprints programs or any pre-defined delay on the Toneprint Knob, you cannot use them if you want to use the expression pedal.
The way I use delays is with an expression pedal, so this one is not for me. 4 stars. If you don't use an exp pedal, go for it, this is a good investment.
This thing is amazing, the presets are insanely fun and useful (especially with the 3 personal presets you can have as the first 3 foot switches), the device alone is good, but when you add in the tone prints that tc have done for it, it's amazing.... Not only can you use presets from some of the top guitarists, but you can get the editing software and make your own prints (very fun, very addictive), you can edit pretty much every parameter you could think of for delay and save it to one of the 4 memory slots, making this extremely versatile....
Now a couple of sad nots, yes I love this pedal and think it amazing (it can switch to buffered bypass so the delay trails can continue after the effect is switched off, awesome!)... It is very large and won't fit on an already fairly full pedalboard, once on the board toneprints are hard to edit, the tap tempo is individual to each switch.... That's my major issue, however, once used to it it's very useable...
If size is an issue (no joke intended), then the mini and standard sizes are just as good... Bear it in mind.
