I like it so much

McTom, 22.10.2014
... but this desk has quickly captured my heart :)

Hello everyone. So I am an absolute newcomer in the field of lighting technology and at least in the middle age. So far, I have so 2-4 small private parties with music from the notebook supplies and thought: "Now it's time to do something for the Illumination."
For this I have read first on the Internet something smart, since I thought so far, the DMX is a bicycle from the 80's ^ ^ I recommend the guide here at Thomann over DMX mixing consoles, which is quite good, but also some technical terms , With which a newcomer like me, could not do much. After that I found a very informative videos on YouTube, which then gave me the missing information very well and vividly. Simply times "DMX beginners tutorial - part 1 - the introduction" enter and view ... of course then also the other parts.
In any case, I looked after the Thomann tutorial and the videos of Bln Lighting on YouTube equipped, instead of (BMX) bike to drive a few (DMX) lamps to program :)
Beside a few lights, I first ordered the Stairville DMX Master III. After two days of the tasting, I had the impression that I would very soon be pushed to the limits of the desk. Thanks to the Thomann 30-day money back guarantee I decided then for that Stairville DMX Invader 2420 MK2 (incl. Case in the bundle). To anticipate it: a decision I did not regret.
First I have to say again that I'm absolutely unstressed, so except for the DMX Master III have no experience with DMX controllers.
After the above-mentioned preparation and the reading of the instructions of the Invader 2420, I was able to quickly create very interesting results with this console. As a basic light, I programmed two CLB4 LED bars from Stairville. As nice effects a Stairville laser and the ADJ Quad Beam. The programming went really well from the hand, of course I had occasionally a times repeated in the, as I find, good manual of the Invader see.
So you can program the thing quite well. But what about the live operation at a party? For this I have to say that I am someone who does not play music from prefabricated playlists, because I think in my opinion should be oriented to the mood of his audience. Of course, I also place this requirement on my lighting system: it must be variable and flexible to be influenced. And it is with the DMX Invader 2420 MK2.
I've programmed different Chaser (sequences) for different musical directions. By the way, Thomann's product description is wrong here: You can store not only 20 Chaser, but 60 Chaser (20 Chaser x 3 Memory Banks). You can also activate multiple chasers that are processed in sequence. This is very interesting, because you can program, for example, a running light that travels from left to right. Another chaser runs from right to left. If you activate both chasers, you have a running light, which runs back and forth. In this way, I have achieved very nice effects by "testing" by simply activating two or more chasers one at a time. What is not so nice: If the chasers lie on different benches, which you have to change with a rotary wheel, then it is not always immediately apparent which of the three benches you are. Since a correction in the LCD display would be helpful (software update).
You can also have multiple chases run at the same time via the "cues". Sounds a bit strange, but makes sense, for example, if you have programmed your things like me and one day vioelleicht still scanners or moving heads to buy Then create new chaser with these devices. If you want to put this on an already created chaser, then one makes from both chasern simply a "Cue". I have not yet been able to directly test, but so understood by means of the guidance.
The effects have like laser and ADJ Quad GEM I have placed beside individual scenes also on the override buttons. So I can activate these devices individually (scene select) or even in a running chaser via override button.
However, the ways just described can be flexibly influenced live during live gigs. So you are not only dependent on the prefabricated (these are, of course, the essential basics), but you can still have a live influence on the show, once the appropriate preparations have been programmed.
So far, I have unfortunately no scanners or moving heads and therefore can not make any assessment.
The music-controlled mode is unfortunately unusable, since you can not achieve a practical result (pity). Either the
Overall: clear purchase recommendation!
