Dense and homogenous sound
Viktor aus M., 26.11.2014
Operate the Mixdream XP z.Zeit on 8 channels. The signal comes from the DAW via an RME HDSP 9632 ADAT into the converter RME ADI 8 DS MKIII and from there into the totalizer. Will expand to 16 channels in the future. I have to say, the sound difference to the Cubase Stereobus is clearly audible, at least for me. The digital bus sounds very clear, transparent and somewhat sterile in comparison. I listen to the individual channels as if they were independent of each other and somehow did not come together. The SPL, on the other hand, "sticks" the instruments together, makes the mix more homogeneous and gives it heat, which may be due to the saturation or compression effect of the analog circuit. I must also mix differently over the digital bus, before alem concerning the volume of the individual instruments, but also frequencies. I think, here also the DA converter plays an important role. The topic of analog-summing is very controversial in the community, I can only say: for me it is an enrichment, but everyone should decide for themselves. I am in any case very satisfied with the Mixdream, which I can say for all SPL devices that I own.
