Thus the Goldmike is the perfect pre amp, even for high-end HD recording, as the dynamic range of 111 dBu proves: This value is above the, in practice, achieved values of 24-bit recording.

The amplifier provides a very clean and really well-resolved signal. By the way, he has a lot of headroom and gives you a lot before the first audible distortion. Prima, for example, for Orechsteraufnahmen, if it is sometimes very dynamic and one outlined too high adjusted.

Personally I use the device also very much for drum overheads or vocal recordings. Just here, the FLAIR circuit is a good way to sound shaping, but a little with caution is to be enjoyed, since depending on the microphone and sound source, the whole thing can sometimes be a bit pointed. The processing is also very high-quality, in this case also the balanced as both XLR and unbalanced outputs. The only downside is the lack of output controls of the two channels, which unfortunately make a subsequent control between the Preramp and the interface more difficult.

Very good, however, are the two large gain controls including printed scale, which makes a similar level control with stereo recordings (and this amp is predestined) very easy and also a recall of the recording settings effortlessly (this should be noted, of course;). Only a grid would be even better, but is at the price / performance ratio but problem-free.

On the whole, a great device, which has already given me many very good and faithful services and which I continue to use today. Just a pure, good sounding preamp without unnecessary frills, which would only raise the price unnecessarily.

I have owned the Gold Mike for many years now. He was used for both CD productions and live sound reinforcement.

In the studio I use the Gold Mike mostly for guitar and singing. The guitar is recorded with an AT 4050, the vocals with a Neumann TLM 103.
He convinces with a very nice warm sound and is far superior to the preamplifiers of the Soundcraft mixer.

Live I only play a flamenco guitar with the AT 4050. Then go over a parametric EQ into a Vitalizer and finally into a dbx 166A compressor. The Hall I get (still) from the desk-internal Lexicon-effect device.
The Gold Mike gives me an excellent output signal, so I am always able to deliver a clear and powerful sound.

The Flairschaltung enriches my opinion the sound very beautiful,
I do not want to miss them. Here you have to stop just in connection with the Vitalizer. Even in the case of multi-track recordings, it is to be enjoyed with caution, one should add effects in the mix.

All in all, the Gold Mike is a fantastic device for the price. Sure, there is even better, but certainly also more expensive microphone preamplifier, for my circumstances, the Gold Mike completely. In seven years he did not even let me down.
