This is one of the best de-essers on the market.
In fact, it removes the sibilantes in a voice without ruining it at the top of the spectrum. Only two frequency settings are available (6kHz or 7kHz) where other models offer a potar for wider raking.
But suddenly the setting is done very intuitive and almost on the fly, which is really useful in live for example. Sure, you do not always need it; But when the lead singer / s is hissed down from the stage, you do not need to destroy the vocal sound immediately with the EQ: a pressure on "Active" in the SPL DeEsser is enough.

In addition, the intensity of the S reduction can be adjusted with the single rotary control: the whole left = "no effect" ... right right = "almost an s-language error".

I know, besides the Drawmer MX 50, no other stand-alone device with de-dosing function. The SPL DeEsser is much easier to use and, according to expert opinions (reviews, forums, ...), a bit more neutral in the sound (ie you hardly notice the use).
