Extremely versatile effects with extraordinary sound quality

Matt173, 31.08.2014
Sonically superb modulation effects whatever your musical genre.

However, it's not going to get an award for good design!

The user interface is somewhat quirky but once you get the hang of it it's ok. As you rotate the dial or select the two saved presets obviously the knobs don't reflect the values of the parameters saved so there is a feature whereby if you zero the knobs then select the preset and rotate a knob the led flashes rapidly when the knob gets to the position of the value saved. However if you make any adjustment you lose the ability to discover the position of another knob without going through this procedure again. Why not just make it so any new positioning of the centre knob invokes the discovery feature?

I have also several times, with a combination of button pushes that still elude me, managed to lose the led indicator on the central knob so that even selecting a preset with the footswitches doesn't show which effect is selected. The only way I could get out of this was to power off on. Maybe there is a firmware bug. I would note also that the only way of updating the firmware if one becomes available is via midi but to use midi requires the purchase of another source audio hub device. This seems somewhat short sited marketing. Great for Source Audio but do they think users won't figure this out?!!

You have to be careful operating the foot switches as they are very close to the two lower knobs. If you catch the knobs with your foot you might get a radically different sound to the one you had expected!

Despite the above I think this one is a keeper because it just sounds so good and the modulation possibilities are limitless.

14 months on the right hand foot switch fell to pieces so now it's useless. I'm mortified as I'm not 'heavy footed' and always look after my gear. Now adjusted to 2 stars for quality :(

Sounds from orbit - also for electric bass

Zaptronic, 20.07.2015
This part belongs to the series Soundblox 2 and has the same structure as the other effect devices (except the new One series). So if you already know one of the series, you can work with it immediately.

The sound palette includes 12 different chorus, flanger and phaser effects. If required, each effect has a presetting that can be called up at the touch of a button. A great starting point to adapt the desired effect to your own taste or needs.
A PDF file of these settings can be downloaded from the SourceAudio website. It also teaches you to quickly understand this complex yet intuitive device. But you should plan for that for a while. It is definitely worth it!

Furthermore, the part is also excellent for tremolo sounds. Under the presets one finds bsp. also Vibro-Trem or Rotating Speakers.

You can also choose from four different waveforms (2x Envelope Follower, Sinewave, Squarewave). Very innovative here is that you can blend the waveforms infinitely into each other and so get a hybrid sound from both.

For us bass players the LoRetain function is very helpful. Both the solid foundation and the effect characteristics are retained.

Generally speaking, both vintage and crazy experimental sounds are possible.

All parameters can be controlled with external controllers (Expression Pedal or HotHand) via the multifunction input (4-wire mini-jack) - but not at the same time, of course.

The good part, however, has only two memory slots. However, Source Audio has already taken care of this small deficit and launched the HUB on the market.
The OM is MIDI capable and can be easily integrated into a MIDI system through the HUB.

Another big plus is in my opinion the manual (English): everything written in detail and very understandable, without getting lost in any technical gibberish.

In any case, antesten!
