Full, fat sound - superb detail
Daniel7226, 03.02.2014
Using the ksm 42 with a Goldmic 9844 on vocals and am getting excellent results. The audio is crisp, detailed and warm. The build quality of the mic and shock mount is superb.

Vocal LDC Mic
Uwe351, 03.04.2014
I was looking for another vocal microphone. Up to now, a tubemic by David Pearlman (replica Telefunken 250) was a Neumann TLM 170 and a Shure SM7B. So you can cover quite a bit.
After reading some interesting reports about the Shure Condenser, I decided to buy one, the KSM42 is in middle price class, but sometimes it does not have to be the most expensive for a special application.

After initial tests with male vocals, I do not regret the purchase. The KSM 42 does a great job. Niere only, no setting possibilities, but just trimmed on vocals. I find it is very clean and neutral. The range is quite wide, and also fluctuates in distance without discoloration. The proximity effect is actually weaker than with other LDCs. This can sometimes be helpful. Noise equal to zero, sound crystal clear. You should not record bass, the lowcut does not. I'll try to guess guitarsuit guitars.

To add extra color into the game it takes a character strong preamp. With a UA6176 makes itself for example already times very well.
The look is appealing, the spider makes a solid impression, the magnetic pop protection is a bang, Bravo Shure!
For this price class a clear purchase recommendation, even compared with twice as expensive Mics.
