We brought 2 of these, - we're a touring folk band...

They sound dreadful they give a thin, screechy, horrible sound!
What it needs is a serious preamp right up in the unit itself to prevent signal loss, which all piezos suffer from.

The cable that comes with it is cheap and nasty and if you are inexperienced with violin bridges you'll need someone else to shape and fit the bridge for you.
The volume and tone controls are pretty ineffective as all they do is cut the signal.

if you have access to a lot of good effects units and professional sound technician you may just get a reasonable sound from it.

You're better off spending an extra 50 to 80 Euro on something better.

What makes a violinist, who has an electric violin for the stage, which sounds wonderful over the installation, but can hardly be heard without reinforcement if he wants to play unexpectedly "unplugged"?
If he does not want to have a second, pure "woody" every time, he can not help thinking about a pickup for the precious instrument, "the best of both worlds".
However, the jewelery, which is perhaps already 100 years old, must not be affected.
At Shadow you have come to the smart idea, simply replace the original bridge by one in which a piezo pickup is permanently installed and connected with a short cable.
This short cable is inserted via mini-jack into the input of a passive volume and sound control, from there it goes off into the mixing console.
This control unit is simply screwed on the frame like the chinrest, so here also nothing is changed at the violin.
Due to the integrated design, one has for relatively little money and hardly any effort, as is usually usually the case with shadow acoustic pickups, very good and balanced sound. Very good!
