What you'd expect from Seymour Duncan
Martin4035 28.01.2014
The usual excellent service on this item from Thomann...quick and well packed. Boring but true! Order from them with confidence.
Pickups are a very personal subjective thing, but here's my opinion on this: very good sound, and a safe purchase. Seymour Duncan were once the big thing, with Dimarzio, in aftermarket pickups, but time moves on and the place is now awash with top end, boutique pickups makers. All of them claim to have found the new 'pixie-dust' that makes pickups do wonderful things to your tone.
Indeed, they virtually all make excellent sounding pickups. In the midst of this, Seymour Duncan have been a bit left-behind, but lets not forget they have many, many years of experience doing this pickup thing!
The quality of this pickup was like all their pickups; top class. Fitting is as easy as your skill level, but there's loads of help on the net and Seymour Duncanhave a forum to provide support as well as the excellent support on their website.
Once in there were no surprises. The improvement over the standard Mexican Strat pickup was marked. Sweet top end, warm bass and a slight mid scoop. Not overly bright or aggressive. Nice for cleans and overdrive alike.
It's been fitted for several months now with no problems, and I have no doubt it will be fitted for many years.
Recommended.

Neck position
Soilac 10.06.2019
I bought this pickup for the neck position of my strat. I have combined it with SSL1/RW in the middle and a splittable Jb Jr at the bridge. It's warmer than SSL and has that bluesy tone I was looking for for the neck position.

R
Seymour Duncan APS-2 Alnico II Pro
Robert814 02.11.2015
Up until now I've only ever used Fender pickups. Fender not surprisingly concentrate on reproducing the famous and much sought after sounds that they are known for. Seymour Duncan (and Di Marzio, EMG, and others) are free to go much more extreme and creative in their designs and the Twang Banger Stratocaster pickup was the first to catch my attention. I've only recently acquired a Telecaster (less than a year ago) and just love the Twang. The idea of having Twang in a Strat really appeals! If I fit a 5-way Superswitch it is possible to have the mid position giving bridge and neck together (rather than mid pickup alone), so 1-Bridge, 2-Bridge+Mid, 3-Bridge+Neck, 4-Mid+Neck, 5-Neck. That should really Twang. The only question is which pickups to use together? Personally I've chosen: Bridge-Twang Banger APST-1, Mid-APS-2RW/RP Alnico II Pro, Neck-APS-2 Alnico II Pro.

It is a great vintage pickups
Anonymous 18.08.2016
Since it is a single coil pickup, it has hum with high gain but this is what you expect from a high gain pickup right? It gives great bell like tones, just like you expect from an old strat.
