Good quality / price ratio
I got the version -EW with jack plug for connection on HF transmitter, with the intention of making me the adapter myself for wired use with Phantom power supply (what I did, and frankly I do not regret Not to have saved 150 euro by not buying the adapter MZA900P). Before purchase, I also tried the Sanken COS11 and the DPA 4080, which are not quite in the same price range.
Of all, I preferred the Sanken but as I had to buy three tie mics, it was a bit heavy (I had other purchasing priorities). So I took a MKE-40-EW and two AKG C-417-PP, both models are suitable for my use (documentary and interviews in fixed). The positioning of the MKE-40 is of course decisive in sound quality (more "difficult" to pose than the AKG C-417 which is omni), but once in place it does its job, rather good sound rejection Off axis (normal for a cardio). Its output level is high, overall 12 dB more (4 times more in voltage) than my AKG C-417.
Its level of background noise is quite low and do not grieve me. I appreciate the magnetic accessory that allows to attach the microphone on a tee-shirt, without pincer or pin (not necessarily need the string to hang it on the neck, probably useful with a jacket but in this case the clamp is More appropriate). In short a good microphone, I find it a very good value for money. Robustness to see in use, for now it is still alive.
