Really good acoustic amp
LeeM, 05.04.2015
i wanted this for a couple of jobs, 1. Playing at home in a dead room that seems to suck volume from an acoustic, 2. Using with a looper pedal, 3. Playing small venues.
Firstly quality wise its first rate, can see this being mine for years to come.
Features wise it has everything I needed. I didnt want an acoustic amp thats loaded with effects, as i prefer not to use them with an acoustic guitar, maybe just a bit of reverb. Thats all this has. I prefer outboard effects anyway, that way you can choose what you use. It has 3 input sections, plus a line in for the likes of an ipod. 2 of the inputs are balanced xlr or unbalanced jacks, 1 input is unbalanced jack. This suits me as I play a taylor which has a balanced output and i use a mic too. So its unlikely you will be stuck for inputs if you play alone. Though you easily have enough for say 2 guitars and a mic. If you really wanted more, a small mixer would do it.
Sound wise, its exactly what I wanted, it repoduces the guitar and it sounds like the guitar, only louder! I didnt want an amp that colours the sound.
Ive been finding I set all the tone controls at center and maybe just tweak a bit for the room.
Loudness, its plenty loud. I know when I was buying this i was in two minds if i wanted a higher power one. But this will easily do small venues and keep the sound quality. Ive even messed about with a bass on in and it doesnt break up.
One thing thats not mentioned in the specs, the bigger schertler amps say they have the mounting underneath for a speaker stand. This amp also has it which is very useful.
Well worth every cent on this amp! very happy camper here.

Good value because of the excellent sound
ipmusic, 06.02.2014
I know SR Technology JAM 150 very well, so I knew exactly what I expected. JAM 100 is slightly smaller / lighter and thus more practical in the everyday life of an acoustic guitarist with vocals. Since I remove my acoustic guitar with microphone there were quite few alternatives with 2 full-fledged microchannels.

Basically, I'm so satisfied because I knew the weak points before and these are not so important for me. So here some criticisms for buyers:

- built-in reverb is max. just OK. In smaller doses, however, it can be used well.
- for the price you could have just bought an effect way.
- Aux would be great, mute function also
- If Jam stands on a box stand, you can only use him blindly

However, the biggest point of criticism is the pre-amplification for the third and fourth channels, which is much too weak compared to microchannels. The same is also true for the first two channels if you use XLR instead of the clinky. While, for example, the clinker channels are fully turned on, the XLR inputs have the 9 o'clock position for singing to get through. It is therefore quite difficult to tune the channels.

On the clinking inputs, I honestly do not notice much of the 100 watts of power and while the XLR inputs even at OpenAir events still have enough power reserves, the jack connections are only pre-amplified for smaller clubs. Man could still take a preamp (ART tube, for example), but then the danger of oversteering is quite large and impractical is also still.

This is definitely not well done and should be reworked to make a good classic JAM, the potential for it. ;-)
