More than expected. Including Volume and Sound Clarity!!!

Ces Mc, 12.05.2017
I should say first: I did a two weeks "internet research" before deciding what to buy.

My "tests" where all through internet. I was conscious about it but still, all amps that I heard, were heard through the same sound board and headphones so at the end, for comparison sake, it was a valid quest.

I wanted a lot of features:
-Two channels,
- Neat cleans
- 12 inch speacker
- Reverb on board
- FX loop
- Headphones out
- Record outline
- and very important: power attenuator for low volumes "high quality" sound.

Now consider this: I was in the position of spending some money to literally treat myself with an "all-tube-cool-amp". So I started the youtube digging up.

After a week of spending about 2 hours at day listening to demos, watching reviews and reading specifications and all I was able to find, I don't know how I bumped into the Roland Blues Cube. Immediately I loved the fatness, the width and the depth of the cleans. Awesome. I was still with my caprice of "all-tubes-cool-amp." So I didn't ignore it, or discard it, but I continued investing my time in listening to more and more reviews.

I ended up with a short list including the Artis 15 by Blackstar, some VOX, the eagner tweaker - it has a really solid sound according to me- and actually the LINE6 DT25 combo.

Well, at the end I went for this Artist Blues Cube, and that was one step ahead of the originally Stage that I wanted first, because I'm interested in the FX loop.

Okey, It is awesome.
The clean channel is impressively full. and the crunch is very well rounded for a delicious solo that doesn't drill your ears.

The features are just superb:
Each channel has these "boost" and "tone" buttons. Boost, for volume-kick and tone for brightening the sound.
3 band EQ,
Really clear digital reverb - spring type-
Presence to also give some of a more acute attack to the sound, and a
Tremolo with tap tempo. Very nice.
Each channel has volume and there is a master volume, You know: So you can crank the volume up of each channel to get the best tone possible without bla bla bla bla :-)
High and Low input.
USB record out

The surprise is: It is responsive to your playing. On the users' guide it says it is designed to replicate 6L6's tubes on the power amp. They achieved that, for sure.
The clean channel breaks nicely above channel volume level of 6.

Volume wise is a monster. I played it at home only, I live in a kinda huge house now, with two sections separated by a big garden in between. I tried it 45 watts, and I was told the windows in the other house were humming. YEAH! - I wore earplugs, of course :-)

Want more? Okey, the super unique feature of "DUAL CHANNEL" whereby channel clean and channel crunch are mixed up together. I love that. I really love it. It makes your sound get as big as the Big Ben.

All that I said is foot-switchable. Oh my god!

Biggest CON: is that the footswitch recommended is not included, it sells for 85 Euro I think, and at the time of my purchase there was a huge backlog in the availabilty. At the time of writing this review, I had been waiting for 6 weeks already and the announced date of availability was until 3 more weeks. Anyway.

Another huge PRO is that it's about 15 kg light. Yeah. Not a single 2 channel, reverb, and tremolo , FX loop etc etc all tube amp has ever been so light. I value that.

Don't be discouraged by the price, it is not little money, but it is worthy.

Why sound 4 stars? well, I'd be happy with a bit stronger gain but, not a big issue.
Why quality 4 stars? because I didn't feel like giving it 5 :-p. I don't like the corner-protectors in chrome.

So...If you are reading this, you are already intelligent and objective enough to understand you don't need an all tube amp nowadays to sound professional and huge, nor to have a nice touch responsive amp. So I will not get on to that. Well done.

You'll love any of the Blues Cubes.

A wonder

Sylvain4341, 31.10.2016
I sold my amp head (type gas plant) of a well-known American brand and made the choice of this Roland in replacement for the following reasons:
1. avoid the fragility / lack of reliability of a tube amp (sound cut and other problems live ...)
2. avoid the maintenance costs of my amp head (350¤ for the replacement of all lamps).
3. Have a more portable amp (It's less heavy than the amp head on its own).
4. Have a less complicated amp to make it sound, which is more easily adjustable.

Result: I was able to have all this without too much compromise on the sound. I complete the versatility of my old head with very good OD pedals.

I'm delighted. The clean sound is fabulous. I have never had such a nice clean sound on any of my amps. The crunch is very credible. It is not the best crunch I know but it does the job perfectly. It really feels like playing on a tube combo. The dynamics are very good. And he accepts the pedals well.

The finish is impeccable. No complaints.

Regarding the price, it is not given, but it is the price of a good combo.
To those who say 899 for the transistor is too expensive I would say: Is a tube amp really expensive to produce? For me, the price / performance ratio is very good.
