The shelf works great, even with my mixing desks weighing in at 75 kilos, it sags in the middle, but seems fine and stable. The only big gripe, is the awkward design, that clamps on the sides of the handles, instead of resting on top of a cross bar, inside the handles, this makes this one shelf, a 20 minute job just to put up and bolt in, its a well awkward design, and certainly needs a re-think. On the plus side, a guy on youtube has shown a way you can re-weld the unit, and add cross bars , accross the inside of the handles, and then remove, and re-weld the U brackets, so they face downward, and then the shelf just sits straight on the cross beams, then this shelf takes two seconds to set up, and pack away. Good shelf, but hassle to set up and pack away without making these alterations, its a lot of un-necessary work on the day. Get one, and get it re-welded by your local garage, then these are very highly recommended, and make great dj / sound booths for gigs, just wrap them in black cloth, and of course, these trolleys are a must for setting up and packing away. Definitely get this set up, and get it re-welded by your local garage, you'll be glad you did. P.S. This shelf does not fit the R18 trolleys.
I bought the shelf to primarily use when DJ'ing. All the gear (speakers etc) go on the R12 Rock n Roller itself for easy transportation. Once that is all unloaded, I attach the shelf (which is unfortunately a bit fiddly) and then put my laptop and DJ controller on it. Then a starcloth goes around the front of the Rock n roller and its all set. Job done ! :)
