The DAW controler I wanted

I use Studio One 3 Pro and have a number of controllers including the 'PreSonus Faderport' but wanted more hands on hardware instead of using my PC's mouse/keyboard.
As read about the CS18AI and waited until they shipped it into Europe then purchased it from the online store I trust [thomann].
It took a bit of fiddling about with cables and software to get the latest firmware installed and working, but since then it has worked perfectly without a hitch.
Total control over my Studio One 3 DAW making my project studio feel and look professional.
I am very pleased to recommend the CS18AI and I hope that PreSonus bring out an extension to expand the fader count...

I wanted a mixer for Studio One but?

Quite frankly, if I had studied the machine better before, I probably would not have bought it, but the little it serves (and I think to send it back to Thomann) is still practical to me. This does not deserve the price for the use I have?

To begin with, the visual is beautiful, really beautiful when one has it under the eyes. The quality of the buttons, faders, touch screen, visibility on small "led screens". Everything is there to make you want to buy it. That was one of the reasons that motivated me.

Then, the connection? Wireless and full control on (only) Studio One, it works well, but the latency is quite important and if several other devices are on the same WiFi network as your computer and the CS18ai, expect to have freeze and loss connections and You will have to reboot the console, which is very annoying when you can not connect it to a router to improve stability and enjoy the PreSonus audio engine.

The functionalities are well all the same and useful:
- mixer control (up to 64 tracks), groups, send tracks;
- native integration of studio one's stock plugins,
-possibility to map the VST / AU on the buttons of the console;
- choice of the playback mode by tracks (read, write, latch and touch);
- mono / stereo control on each track and pan;
- control on song markers, play / stop / record, fast forward / backward?

These are the points that motivated me to buy it, but in the end, I do not serve any more than that, it is useful but not essential to my sense, knowing that a Faderport (always from PreSonus ) Does exactly the same job although there is only one fader.

Do you realize that it is a controller for Studio One and not a digital console that allows many recordings (guitar, voice, drums, basses etc etc)? So think about it before you go.

If I had known all these little inconveniences of connections, this latency and the loss of network connections before buying it, I would have turned to a Faderport at 189¤ (what I risk doing) instead of 2000¤ for Have only 50% satisfaction use.

In conclusion, I will repeat what I said at the beginning, read a lot of reviews, get 100% for wired connections via AVB cables, have a router handy, be on your network and Then begin to think carefully about how you use it.
